M240i xDrive 8AT overrevved.

Not sure what happened, in which mode I was...

Basically, I must have pulled the flipper to DOWNSHIFT, engine downshifted, I hear the engine revving up, and I check the counter, and it went to say 7300 RPM.

I wasn't even putting a load on the engine at that time.

Car has 10K miles, has been to the dealer since, they haven't said anything (I forgot to mention it).

No problem afterwards, no power loss or anything.

I find it weird that the car allowed this.

What should I do? Report to dealer?

They’ll read out the history from the engine computer(DME). The redline on the B58 is 7k. However, the gauge redline is typically very conservative. I wouldn’t worry about it.
