Dinan Lowering Springs on Backorder

Wanted to take advantage of the holiday sale that Dinan has going on right now (10%) and finally get the lowering springs and supplemental ride quality kit that I've been eyeing for my M240i. Unfortunately, it is currently on a backorder for the foreseeable future due to "quality issues". The Dinan sales rep said it'll be a while and didn't give me much more information other than that. Guess I have to order it after the sale period is over..

Anybody else run into the same issue?

Would love to know what the quality issues are and how far back to issue goes. That's a pretty forthcoming statement by Dinan.

Essentially the last large batch of springs we received were manufactured incorrectly by our longtime supplier due to a minor point of ambiguity on a drawing which left open some possible interpretation. This resulted in some coil bind and chattering issues to surface on the latest run of parts. Rough guess is we're 60 days out on corrected replacements but timetables are hard to pinpoint around the holidays for obvious reasons.

this only effects the latest batch and not the previous ones?

did the drawings change that caused the misinterpretation?

Correct, just the latest batch. Drawings were the same. Our guess is a new guy was running the machine and made a judgement call on the fly. We have since changed the drawing to eliminate any such need to question anything. This particular vendor has been one for 20+ years and is about as solid as they come so we don't expect it to re-occur.

Dinan_Engineering is it possible to still receive bad springs? Is there a batch code or something that should be looked at, or have they all been recalled?

Extremely unlikely unless it was purchased through a distributor/dealer who just happened to have stock on hand. However, that is unlikely since 99% of the distributors/dealers are simple drop shippers or order parts based on a job basis in this day and age.
