This has not happened to me, but I don't have the HK system, just the base 'hi fi' system.

Wondering if this has ever happened to anyone without the HK?

Geez I wish car manufacturers would keep the stereo system separate from the computer brain of the car...like in the old days, when anyone could swap out a head unit and upgrade amps/speakers as they like.

Mine went out again the other day before my hour drive. It sucked.
In order for them to turn on again the ECU has to go to sleep.
Active Sound also turns off when the subs don't work.

Some people would find that a hidden benefit!

Just had this happen tonight on my 2016 with the HK. 1150 miles. Anybody have a surefire fix? Mine came back after shutting down for a few minutes in the garage. Hope this isn't a persistent issue...

Well, it finally happened to my 2016 HK system with 7000 miles on it. I wasn't even jamming it. Was listening to the morning talk show on my way to work. Noticed it when I switched to music.

Happened to me a couple of times on 2016 with 3,000 miles. I took it to the dealer and they told me the bass was turned all the way down. I don't know if it was a safety thing with the sub but I didn't turn it down. And sometimes I listen to music loud but the other day I got in and it had no bass. The next day the bass came back.

Same here. Subwoofers have cut out twice already. Haven't even had the car for two weeks, but I'll take it in soon to have them check it out.

For reference, I always just bluetooth Spotify but when I switched to radio today, the subs still were offline. I have H/K.

I took it in as well and they weren't able to find anything wrong particularly since they couldn't re-create it.

in any case, it happened 2 or 3 times and hasn't happened since I.e. been many months now. All seems to be working fine now.

I had this happen the other day. But it happened at start up, not while I was driving. Turned the car on, no bass. Made a quick stop, started it up 5 minutes later, everything was fine.

The week prior the left side speakers went out completely. Fading the audio all the way to left yielded no sound. That also reset itself after a few minutes of sitting off.

I have the HK audio.

Reviving and old thread..
Same issue happened on my M2C the other day.
Twice in 2 days of driving, 6k miles on the car.
First occurrence was the passenger’s side sub only, 2nd occurrence was both subs completely dead.

Did anyone find out what the cause/permanent fix is?

The amp that powers the subs is likely overheating and shutting down. Putting the amp where it gets little to no ventilation isn’t a good idea.

Thanks for the feedback. But a lot of cars actually use the same location for amp placement.
Funny that I’ve never had this problem for 5k+ miles and had it happen twice in a 2-day period.
I’m guessing a s/w bug given the fact that it returns to normal after a quick IGN cycle.
