Why would anyone buy a 6er after seeing the stunning looks of the 4er? Two different things. Not everyone is looking for "more fun to drive". Not everyone is looking for a small, fun, enthusiast hot coupe. The 4er still has a market, and I believe it will only grow stronger. Also, I feel overall the 4er is still the more mature of the two, looks more upscale and has a more composed demeanor (read: boring). Some will gravitate towards that. |

The M3 is a very special car. It's not for my everyday driving. I prefer a more balanced car. Something that does everything well (which the M3 does, but with a heavy bias towards performance). I'm not afraid to admit that it's too much car and performance for my needs. I don't know about you, but me and my brothers practically grew up idolizing BMW's and especially ///M cars. It was inevitable that I would own one. If anything, just to get it out of my system and see what all the fuss is about. It's been a mixed bag for me. Great car, amazing performance but to me it feels much less special than what everyone says about it. What do they say, never meet your heroes? No doubt the e92 M3 is a marvel of auto engineering (perhaps the pinnacle of the M division), but I'm not gushing over it. Then again, my opinion should not count for much, since I've never taken it to the track and really pushed it to the limits (which is in my plans to do). I am sure that is where you get your money's worth. But for me and my everyday driving, the M3 has proven to be too much. Wasteful in a lot of ways. So I would be very happy to down size to the M235i. And yes, I will miss my M3 but I absolutely can not keep both. As far as how I have it optioned, my car is a 6MT with premium and competition package. I have driven MT cars my whole life. I hate autos. I sold my f30 335i mainly because I wanted to get back into a 6MT car. Having said all that, if I were to things again I would get the M3 in dual clutch transmission. Really consider it. A 4.0L V8 in 6MT is not as great as you think it would be. Definitely not as fun as smaller engines and lighter cars. It's too much car for a manual transmission and no doubt the DCT would probably do a better job in delivering the power more efficiently. It never even crossed my mind to get the M3 in DCT, but now I think otherwise. You live and learn. Every BMW enthusiast should own an M3/M4 at some point in their life. And I would do it again in a heartbeat. It's a milestone. |

![]() Does that mean that the B48 is going to arrive with the Cabrio (in Europe)? I'm still saving my money so waiting for mid of next year wouldn't make a difference for me... Also do you know why there is no 228i in europe but in the US and according to the german Optionslist there is also no Active Cruise Control ![]() |

Finally, BMW came through with the 2 Series in overall design/packaging.
I like the M235 but for nearly $60K, there are a ton of cars I would pick over it: E91 M3, 4-Series, low mileage Porsche. A 228i w/M-sport and lightly optioned might be the way to go if you have to have the design but want to keep cost down. x-Drive would be cool. |

Oh btw. BMW is talking about Air Curtains to improve Aero performance again... I though somebody said the 2er wouldn't get Air Curtains and Air breathers at all?
Or is it only limited to the M Sport package and is not available on the other "lines"? |

From what I’ve seen of the M235i so far, I really like it and would seriously consider getting it, but I gather the M Performance LSD retrofit is a dealer-installed option rather than a factory-installed option, which I’m afraid is going to be a deal breaker for me. I will not get this car without an LSD, and I pretty much only want to get the LSD if it’s a factory-installed option and not some ultra-expensive dealer-installed option. In fact, I would even consider getting the M Performance Brakes and Sports Suspension altogether if they offer them as a factory-installed package.
Oh well, looks like I will just have to settle for the 2014 Scion FR-S Monogram Series until the M2 comes out…if they make one. If they don’t plan to make the M2, then I guess I won’t be buying a BMW anytime soon… |

Then what are you comparing it to? 135is is exactly what this replaces. It has a power bump and different exhaust compared to regular N55s (even though there isn't a 235i) but it adds different bushings, power steering calibration, sport steering and sports transmission standard, Pilot Super Sports Tires, etc. this car is certainly expensive but it's one hell of a bargain. Even the 435i is stuck with useless runflat tires, softer bushings, softer steering, etc.

The entry engine for the 2er in 2014 will be a 218i as found in the current F20. For Europe we will get a 225i. This will be the flagship engine for the Active Tourer. The Active Tourer which is a combination of a new form of design dynamism , functional space , increased flexibility , premium desirability and driver communication could tempt existing owners from one-box shaped MPVs. If the Active Tourer concept is successful such a model can be configured with the next generation 3er using the China built Li architecture but will retain REAR WHEEL DRIVE. As you can see in the latest Spy shots. Valencia Orange and 18" wheels will enhance the visual appeal of the Active Tourer.

I basically put my name down and pre ordered the car. Once pricing and options become available then I will go to the dealership and spec it out. But now I am guaranteed a car and will get one of the first allocations. Normally I don't care too much about these type of things but I need to get the car ASAP to use the college discount from my masters before it expires. As for options, it depends on the prices ![]()
