Rookie question here, but would the M235i be likely to appear in the Gran Coupe version (4 door version of M235i)? That would be... AWESOME!

An M235i with M Performance parts (including wheels, brakes, and LSD) should eliminate most people's need for an M2, no?

I'd be VERY surprised if the M division developed a 4 cylinder with 330-340hp and gave it the same lightweight treatment as the M3/4.

Hey guys,
I don't want to read only here any longer so:
(please excuse my english, I speak german but I'll do my best )

Since there are many of you were worried about the 2 series LSD and the M2 on the last pages I wanna try to help with my thoughts about it:

Wasn't there a news for the 4 series, in which BMW announced a LSD for the 4 series through the BMW Performance program and another one where the mentioned a LSD for the BMW 2 series too?!
So I'm sure the LSD for the BMW 2 series (I believe the same for the 1 series) will definitely come through the BMW Performance Program.

And when you think logical, there will be an M2:
- the customers and the press loved the 1M Coupé
- BMW were thinking of an entry level M car in the E8X Era, made it finally and then sold it easily so it was a win (why should they stop that now? just because the M235i is very fast/good?)
- there is room for an M2 between the M3/4 and the M235i at performance side and even more room when you think of the prices from M235i and M3
- they developed the S55 engine out of the N55 and this engine would be perfect for the M2 when detuned a little bit so they can save costs (developing the N20? engine into a m-like one would be much more expensive and I think a 4-cylinder would be more accepted from the enthusiasts when it comes with massive light-weight-modifications like a carbon-fiber-chassis -which I think will not come until the next generation)

So what we can do now is waiting or reduce the time by buying a regular 2 series model. If you want an M2 or a M2 Gran Coupé (which I'm waiting for), ask your dealer for it or BMWs customer service. If enough people are interessted for an M2 and (hopefully) an M2 Gran Coupé then they have to build it if they wanna make money and don't want to loose customers to Mercedes/Audi/etc..

(Personally I'm waiting anxiously since a long time ago for a car like the M2 Gran Coupé - and I'm not going to sell it after I can put my fingers on one, I'm not looking for a 3-year-leasing-car.
I6, MT, RWD and an LSD is a must. I hope the ridiculous ASD can be deactivated. >.<)

As I was saying in another thread earlier, I talked to a sales person from M Performance at IAA and he told me that we could expect the same power increase from the PPK like in the 435i. So now with the revealed 326 HP plus the 34 HP from the PPK, we would be at 360 HP, which is on the same level as the CLA A45 AMG.
I wouldn't be surprised, if they really do it this way!

The M2 Gran Coupe would basically be the perfect car for me. The original M3 was my dream car as a kid, and now I have my dream-come-true with my E90 M3 and I LOVE IT!! But I must admit the size of the car is bigger than I want or need. The M2 Gran Coupe would be a lock for my next car if it comes out. If not... I'll be choosing between M235i vs. F80 M3.

I think we will see some 2 series with less camoflage on at next step, cause until now they still have some hard plastics all over.

Yeah, that should be an answer to dmboone25.

We still haven't seen the back until now. Maybe with only some foil as camo we can tell what the back will look like.

Sure have seen those - those have been out for a while.

It's just that with the reveal of the i3, i8, M4 concept, and 4 series, there hasn't been much since the pics of the red car came out.

I too want to see the car from the rear, and from other angles and in different colors. I have an early production number reserved, so I am anxious to see what I'm gonna get.

Since the new M3/4 won't get a big power bump - albeit much more torque - my guess is that am M2 wouldn't go over 350 bhp. I think the best we can hope for, like the 1M, will be M3/4 underpinnings and lighter weight.

But your list is a good one.
