Love my Pontiac G8, but its time to sell. I have VMR V801 (19x8.5 +35 wearing 245/40-19 and 19x9.5 +50 wearing 285/30-19) for summer and Avaris AV12 (19x8.5 +45 square with 245/40-19) with snows. When I got my wheels I knew 5-120 wheels were mostly for Bimmers, but I had a Pontiac built in Australia lol. When I sell the G8 I was thinking of putting the VMRs on my new (to me) 2017 F23 AWD.

The tires are WAY too tall for the BMW, so I was researching if I could get away with 245/35-19 and 265/30-19. Seems like it might work with the +35 +50 offsets. But do I like the look of the VMRs on the M240? Eh IMO they suite a bigger car better but I already own them and its a lot cheaper to get smaller rubber for them than a whole new set.

So I'm putting the wheel next to the M240 and looking and thinking. Eh I could do it for a summer and if I dont like the look move on next year. Last night I tried to mount them just for shits and giggled and to see how close the front rim would be to fender and suspension. WTF ugh my VMRs have a Pontiac centerbore. The BMW centerbore is HUGE. Fucknuts.

So now I can pay to have the centerbores cut to BMW size, or just move on to another plan. I wonder what that would cost.

So I mounted one of the Avaris just to see how it would look. Those are made for any old car so the centerbore is monstrous so it will fit on anything so it bolted right on.

Oh hey, that set looks familiar! Personally, I think the V801 suits the 2 Series well. Here's a few examples.

Any experience with 19x8.5 +35 and 19x9.5 +50 in terms of tire fitment on an unlowered 2?

I wonder if any machine shop can drill centerbores or if I'd need a wheel specific place. Or I wonder if these pothole wheels repair places can do it.

I would see what VMR says about if they are ok to bore out, enough metal there and what the tolerances should be - that hub is load-bearing (anybody with a mill will tell you they can do it, but it is a precision job for somebody with experience). Same goes for those other wheels - a huge center bore means all the stress is on the lugs, not good (and they look wrong to me, but I'm not aesthetic). The VMR style looks great, but I can't help thinking about it as an extra hour at each wash to do the wheels - if it was me I would sell both sets and get something you really want; even if it turns out perfect, how much are you even saving after you pay for the machine work, and to have wheels you aren't really that into?

This is the first thing I look at when considering a set of wheels.

It's truly amazing how cleaning-unfriendly most wheel designs are. lol

So sorry for the delayed reply! Those specs will work just fine on stock or lowered.

For machining, I'd make sure they're confident in their abilities, but most machine shops should be able to help.
