I really think the entire point is you still get the great sound inside your car without the masses having to hear it outside your car...too bad they have not figured out a way to do this with obnoxious motorcycles.

Way better then rebadging your car something it isn't or adding too many ///M's. . . At least only the people inside the car have to deal with your ///M envy lol.

The irony here is that the car does it already...so unless you're one of the guys who yanks the fuse or codes it to disable, does that automatically make everyone a ricer?

Just going for semantics here. If you wanna hack the car to make it sound cool go for it. Unlike a 4" exhaust on a Honda Civic, with the windows up you're the only one who can hear it (vs everyone for a 2 mile radius).

I was just thinking about that. I guess it would make BMW the ricer, since it's stock. Sort of like the debate about whether the ///M badge belongs on the M235i trunk lid.

Coding active sound delete would be a bit like de-badging the car. Do it if you like; it's a personal choice (I plan to delete AS).

Coding a different sound is no worse. Some like a Bach concerto, others an Eddie Van Halen solo. That's one of the privileges of owning the car.

This is funny mod. Its just the way technology is going. I work in the IT field and everything leans toward virtualization. This is now bleeding into cars. Your getting virtual experience instead of a reality experience. Its unfortunate but its the way technology is going.
It can be hard to except. I have had some tribulations with these new techy things but have learned to use them to my advantage.

Maybe they need to record the E9x M3 and give it to all the whiny M4 owners. ;-)

I'd love to have the sound of a Ferrari 458 Speciale. That sound is so intoxicating.

it's the ASD ecu not HU_NBT... but you only have it, if you have the hardware

same way you don't have KAFAS or FLA if you don't have front cameras

HU_NBT is the wrong ecu, you want to be in the ASD ecu

Well, switching from an E90 M3 to a 328 touring (dog's car) means the 328 sounds like crap in comparison.

If I could get the 335 or 235 sound for my 328 I'd probably hate the 328 less...

personally i think active sound is great.

because i don't want to hear all that wind noise, and other cars, and the guy in the car next to me blasting bad music, but i still want to hear my actual engine.

as long as the engine was a real engine they recorded from its not THAT bad. i know porsche just has an actual tube that pipes in sound from your actual engine bay and that would be more authentic, but the idea is pretty much the same.

I think this is a pretty cool find.

It's just for fun, who cares, you're the only one that's going to be hearing it...you can turn it on or off, pick a different engine, it's what's going to end up happening in the future, when we all have fully electric cars
