Hey everyone, buying a used 2018 m240i RWD automatic with 30k miles and wanted to run it by yall. It’s my first tuned car and BMW. It’s stage 2+ 93 octane custom tune with bm3. Getting a PPI done but would like to understand what these logs (the seller shared) indicate. https://bootmod3.net/log?id=64f7f41ec090c6b778de6307
Seller shared that a full kick down with acceleration close to 100% would yield best results. Is there anything glaring that I may have missed? Most of it looks fairly standard from guides I’ve seen on YouTube. What resources do you guys recommend to learn about tuning? Appreciate any and all help! |

These logs are great. The seller knew what he was doing when it came to producing these. I see nothing wrong everything looks great. Enjoy the new car!

Thanks for shedding some light here. Im in an area with 92 octane as best gas, would that suffice for this tune? or will i have to look at using a different map / dial down power?

I’d log it and see what the timing corrections are like. If they’re not more than -3 then it should be fine.

1 to 1.5 gallons of E85 per tank could also be your friend if you don't have access to high enough octane gas to align with your tuning settings. It helped me in the past when I was seeing larger timing corrections. But keep in mind the stock HP fuel pump can't support that much ethanol in your tank. Getting the TU HP fuel pump is an easy and cheap option if you go down the ethanol path and want to run more than a couple gallons of E85. My stage 2 M240i with the TU pump and running about 4 gallons of ethanol per tank was an absolute beast. **I did this for a few thousand miles with zero issues but I don't know what impact ethanol has on these cars long term. My two cents.

1. Add some e85 to each tank to see if that corrects it 2. Dial down power on custom tune 3. Choose a different map? My goal is to preserve the car in its current state as it drives great (perfectly to my standards). Thanks |

If you don't want to rely on E85 you could try other maps and check the logs to see. However, I do like what Dom said that if the timing corrections are pretty slim then don't worry about it that much.
