Is EDC actually noticeable for you guys?

2015 m235i here, bought about 6 months ago, was never really able to tell the difference between comfort and sport modes. Is there a night and day difference for you guys?

It's night and day for me on a frost heaved road. There's plenty of those this time of year.

Check the side of your shocks if they have a cylinder with an electrical connector sticking out the side of them. That's an easy way to see if it does or does not have.

Thanks, pretty sure I do have it as it is standard in Canada and it says so on a vin decoder, discovered this and it might be related?

I can tell I haven’t switched to Sport mode and the car is in Comfort when I take the first corner 200m from my house, no matter what the speed.

Not only is it night and day for me, it's night and day for my wife. She hates riding in the car in Sport mode but is quite happy when it's set for Comfort.

M240i xDrive here.

I can't tell the difference in comfort, sport, or sport+.

I'm going to have EDC coded out after I install my coilovers.

I mostly drive in Sport, but switch to Comfort whenever I hit a patch of particular bad road, or when they are covered in icy ruts. It especially helps to cut down on the rocking horse effect of bad expansion joints.

EDC is a feature I'm quite happy to have, though I wish the modes were more customizable.

Quite interesting that we have so many people saying a night/day difference and no notable difference.

Strange

I can't tell any difference between comfort and sport. If it's anything it's got to be very subtle. I think "comfort" is a misnomer. Changing the damping is going to make a suspension more "comfortable". And for "sport" I'd be curious what real world differences you'd experience on a road track in time... I'd guess it wouldn't be significant one way or the other.

Don't forget the suspension option has to be also turned on in idrive. Sport modes can be adjusted a little bit.

You may have SPORT set to only change engine and not suspension.

There are two spots on my drive to work where everyday I flick it into Comfort for a second, then go right back to sport. One is a train track crossing on a hill, lots of semis get highside stuck on it and lots of kids in cheapo cars get airborn on it. The other is a highway with a underpass bridge at a 45 degree angle. You go over 7 bridge ties in a row that are all 45 degrees and it upsets most car's suspension.

If anything, I have a hard time telling the difference between Sport and Sport+. The steering feels much lighter.

The car glides over potholes in comfort mode, but when I go over them in sport mode I feel my soul briefly leave my body.

I should take photos of some of the potholes in this region. They're growing larger and deeper by the day.

I saw one a short while ago that is contending for this winter's record for both width and vertical depth. Put a front corner into that pothole, and the first thing you'd see after getting the car back out of it would be a destroyed tire and wheel tilted at a very expensive angle.

I hear ya. Not pothole season here yet, but I'm glad for the quick steering response, because at times some roads are like an impromptu slalom.

So this may very well be placebo.

I went into the settings and UNCHECKED the chassis option, then reselected it.
Basically trying to "reset" the configurations.

Now I do feel a slight difference but honestly I have no clue if this actually worked or if my mind is playing tricks on me.

Maybe someone else who doesn't feel a difference could try this an report their findings?

I believed it didn’t make any difference. I always put the car into sport right away. One day I had a Headache and decided to move it to comfort and noticed the difference. Now, I think sport bounces too much. Not to the point that I don’t like it but sometimes more stiff that it should.
