How to track your car from ED to home
So I have a couple of questions for you all. I'm shipping my own 228 with BMW from here in Germany using the same place that ED people use. I will be picking my car up in Charleston at the port though as it won't be delivered to my closest dealership because of the program that I got here.
How do you figure out where your car is in the process? How did you find out where the ship is that your car is on? What were the port and customs fees that you had to pay if any? I know that these may be included in the cost of your ED experience but they should be listed somewhere. Being that I'm on military orders bringing me back from Germany i don't have to pay the duty tax due on goods coming into the US. I'm just trying to figure out how much I'm going to have to pay when I pick up my car at the port in Charleston. Any insight is appreciated. I'm dropping my car off next week on Tuesday. I'm aware of the 50 Euro fee at the drop off point. Other than that I'm clueless. Thanks in advance. Prost!

If you are using Loginout to do the shipping, they can provide you the name of the ship and dates, about 10 days after you drop off the car. There are various ways of tracking the ship online.
Port and customs fees are included in the $950 destination charge on the new car, so there isn't a detailed breakout. |

I didn't buy new. I bought used. It was a dealer loaner here for people who ordered custom builds. I didn't have a destination charge. I'm at the origin. Ha ha. Apparently there are some port fees that I have to pay when I pick it up. Maybe a Customs inspection fee too. I'm exempt from the taxes and the import duty because I'm active duty military on official travel orders back to the States from here.
I am using Loginout under the military home shipping program. I was told it's around a 5.5 week travel time to Charleston from drop off. Thanks for the information. I found some of the links to tracking the ships once I figure out which one it's on. Thanks.

Yes it's a U.S. spec car. I'm in the Army stationed in Germany. This car is my retirement gift to myself. A friend just picked up his M235 and didn't have to pay anything when he picked it up. He just had to pay for his registration in NC and he picked up from Charleston as well.

So I dropped my car off in Munich today. 5 hours in a car is not my idea of fun. The process went really smooth. I left a few bugs on it though. I was kind of in a hurry. Now to figure out when it gets loaded on a vessel.

Congrats! thanks for your service too!
On a side note, Does anyone have any info on tracking Gondrand from drop off to port? I dropped my ED off last Wednesday in Zurich..there was a quirk and that they didn't have my schedule so it was a panic on their part to get the car logged in. I have two pieces of paper from them, but no tracking number and nothing on their website allows me to track or see. Im wondering if I should call BMW ED. Im confident everything is OK but still would like to know where my baby is

Yep, give 'em a call. They'll tell you where your car is and/or what boat it'll be on.

Found it. See the TOSCA thread. I also found out how to figure out what ships are going to be docking on the Germany port and then you can choose what port your car would be offloaded at in the timeframe and then it will give you all the ships that fall in that range. It will also tell you when those leave and the schedule along the route. Once you get a voyage number and vessel you can actually see when it will get to your port. Mine leaves next week and gets to Charleston the same day I get to Columbia, SC. Score!
