Hello,
As the title says, I am looking to upgrade the exhaust on my stock 2016 BMW 228i.
I am very new to exhaust upgrades so looked to this forum for some tips from people far more experienced than I.

Some qualifications for my upgrades:
- I want the car to remain street legal and pass emissions tests (so that means keeping the cat, though I have heard of some good high-flow cat options)
- I want to remove the muffler/resonator for better sound/performance
- I want to upgrade the exhaust tips to the design with the M235i (pictures below)

- This will mean I will also have to get a new diffuser to support the different exhaust header style

Questions I was considering:
- What exactly are the components I will need for this upgrade and what are some cheap/good quality options?
- Will I need any ECU tuning...and if so, any good options there?

I initially bought the Dinan exhaust but sold that after a few years and switched to the M performance from a 235i.

I prefer the M performance exhaust, but the Dinan was louder. Keep the resonator on. Sounds better with it on.

Get an exhaust and call it a day. There's nothing else you need to do
