iDrive stuck on BMW logo
Update: Went through Steve at CodeMyBimmer and got a replacement 1 DIN head unit, the CD player piece that sits behind the HVAC controls. I had looked into replacing the unit myself and there seems to be a lot variations to it. It would be a roll of the dice if I would chose the right one and if whatever I got off Ebay would be a good unit. For just a few bucks more than what I was seeing, I got what looks to be a new unit already coded to my car. I did have to replace wiring for the microphone, USB port, and add a BT antenna and optical jumper in the back. All of these parts were supplied by Steve. These had to be replaced because the original controls for these items came from the Combox in the trunk. These are now run off the new unit. I just powered things up for a bit this morning and all is working. Will have much more drive time this weekend.
My iDrive system is stuck on the BMW logo. About every 1-2 minutes it tries to restart. when it does this, I lose BT audio. I can't get to any other screens. From that I've found, this is not a new issue and others have had it. What I can't find is a good fix. Seems like most take it in and usually need a hardware change. Is there a fix? If it's hardware, is the the part behind the dash or in the trunk? Any recoding required? I stole this pic from an f30, but this is all I get from my screen.

Not much more I can add then having ruled out any issue with external connections. Interesting some of the system still works (BT audio) even though the GUI is unavailable.
I assume you have tried forcing a full restart (push the volume button in for I think it is 15 or 20 seconds with the ignition on)? Other than that I'm out of ideas and expect it is probably hardware. Hope you get it sorted economically. |
