Hardwire Radar Detector

Hi everyone,

I have a 2018 X2 and the X2 forum is pretty dead, so thought I'd ask here.

I'm currently in the process of hardwiring my Uniden radar detector and have followed this very helpful Youtube video. However, that video is for the BMW M4, and when I checked the color of the wire versus what he said, it's a little bit different.

He mentioned plugging in the red wire into the green/brown wire, and the black ground wire to the black/brown wire.

On my X2, I only see a light blue/black wire and a black/brown wire, which are the closest to his wires.

I was wondering if anyone has the same wire harness as me on their car and can tell me which ones to plug into? Afraid that plugging into the wrong one will cause a short....

Here is the pic of what my harness looks like.

I used the rain sensor connector (red one behind RVM connector), for both an R3 and dash cam. Look here:

I also used the rain sensor connector this wknd since I don't have the rear dimming mirror. Red went into red, and ground went into brown (far left). Worked perfectly.

When I mirror tapped mine I just randomly tried different combinations until I got it to turn on. It's doable if you have time to try the different plugs.

I taped into the rain sensor and the detector doesn't power off. One thing I find frustrating with this car is the garage door opener doesn't work with the power off. Every other car I've owned it always works. Now the dang rain sensor stays on?

I stand corrected, it shuts off after 13 minutes!
Why 13 who knows.

BMWs go to sleep after a specific amount of time after locking the car.
