Passing Inspection w/Catless DP in Philly?

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for passing inspection with a catless DP in Philly. I know I can have the stock DP put back on and then get it inspected, but would really hate to do this every year. Has anyone had any luck slipping through inspection with the catless DP?

Thanks!

Catless 4cyl sounds are horrible, get a hi flow cat or go back to stock. You do know that BMW race cars keep the cat right?

Philly is supposed to be plug in emissions, in which case they plug into your ODB2 port and "ask" your car if all its emissions are ok. In the PA burbs where they dont have plug in emissions they have "visual inspection" where they look under the to see if you still have a cat and look at your dash to see if there is a check engine light and then thats it.

So based on that, as long as you're not throwing a CE light code for emissions you should be ok. But if you get an inspector that chooses to visually look for your cats and doesnt see them he will fail you.

If I were you I'd get on the websites/forums/facebooks of local Philly car clubs and ask politely what inspection locations people in your situation go to and ask them to private message you where to go. That shouldnt be talked about in public so's not to get a nicer/more lenient inspector in trouble.

If he's registered in Philly that's an IM county which means he has to get plugged into a computer regardless of where he gets his inspection done. if his CEL is illuminated he fails. Also a lot of the tuners shut off the cat monitor and O2 monitor so they never set which will also not allow you to pass.
