Comfort access - convertible top / and USB :)

A bit confused, can anyone with comfort access in NA please let me know
if the top will open or close , whilst standing outside the car and pressing the keyfob

Also if not, is this a codeable feature ?

AND slightly different, on

Can you import music from a USB key onto the idrive to play from it
rather than having just having an ipod ?

thanks

On our 2016 if you press and hold the unlock button the windows will go down. Once they are down, release the button and then press and hold again and the top will go down. You have to be patient. Is not a fast process. My wife swears you don't have to release and press again, but that's the only way I've gotten it to work

txs guy's
leftoverture what about when going up ?
mizuno82 what year is you 240 ?

txs

I spoke to somone in BMW Canada, they said they had heard about this, but didn't have a 2 series vert to try it on.

I tried it on a 230xi 2018 it would open up (i.e. top open) but would not close, this is where I heard about this BS about it being somone thing to do with "yanks" getting there hands trapped in the top LOL (yeah a sales person told me this)

The BMW vin forum is down, so I can't confirm if this was a canadian or a US car

Funny I found an online manual and for the 2018 (NA) and it shows that the CA works up or down, doesn't even say anything about "depending on region" kinda a thing

A friend I know had an old 128 in Canada and his worked fine,

Thanks

My (US) 2015 228i Conv has Comfort Access and the top will lower (open) by pressing and holding the unlock button on the fob while being near the vehicle. Conversely, the top will raise (close) by pressing and holding the center lock button on the fob while also being close to the vehicle.

I need to check, but I think that it will lower the top by also having the fob in close proximity (in your pocket) and holding the door handle. I know that it will fold the power mirrors by pressing the grooves on the door handle when locking the car.

Can't speak to the second part of the question regarding importing music, but the top on my 2016 M235 goes up and down with the appropriate key fob button held down, but you must stand very close to the vehicle.

Yes, you can import music from a USB - have done so on wife's '16 228i convertible as well as my '15 M3. Both are US cars.

Just hold down on the lock button and see what happens. It's a neat little party trick.

Got the chance to try this today. Very cool to stand outside and watch all the action!

When I picked up my 2020 M240. My sales Lady had me put top down with fob but we were standing right next to vehicle. I believe there is a long distance mod out there and you can do it from in the house ? Haven't seen a need for it for me.
