Take away the physical mounting part of it, the M240i doesn't have the ECU differential control that the M2 does, it is impossible no; but the money that you would spend to get it to work perfectly - easier to go with a mechanical LSD.

Ok... thank you guys, it's not worth the money or the headaches!!
I was coming across a few M2 LSD's for sale with very low mileage at quite a good price, so i thought the typical "how hard can it be?!" |

I want to have this LSD installed on my M240i, but was quoted a whopping $4200 from BMW Chandler in Pheonix. Is that crazy?

From BIMRS.com (https://www.bimrs.org/find-a-shop.html), here are a couple of Phoenix-area independents that can do the same work for you that dealers can: http://www.bavarianmotorsltd.com/ Bavarian Motors Ltd. 2417 North 16th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85006 (602) 254-7380 https://beyermotorworks.com/ Beyer Motor Works 300 S. 79th Street, Chandler, AZ 85226 (480) 961-9449 You might consider having a set of Turner Motorsport solid aluminum subframe bushings installed at the same time: https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-3...ame-mount-kit/. They'll help you get the most out of your new diff. FWIW, on my car I've never noticed the small increase in NVH that they're supposed to add.

Wavetrac and Quaife require little to no maintenance and will likely outlast the car. Clutch type LSD will require more frequent servicing and rebuilds.

I was playing on the BMW site and it allows you to purchase the M Diff + Labor. What confuses me is the labor cost of only $350? (See attached screenshot) I'm going to call the dealer, tomorrow. BTW...does anyone know of a current Promo Code?

A local shop quoted me $560 labor for the install. If you can get it installed at that price, seems like a good price, but I believe you can get the diff cheaper from other places, like around $2,125. I'm sure you couldn't walk into a dealer with a diff you bought somewhere else tho. |

I waited for the BMW USA holiday sales and got the diff for ~$1500 and negotiated w/ my SA for ~$500 dealer install. BMW USA shipped it directly to the dealer and they installed it.

The two dealers closest to me want $412.50 and $439.69. The former charges $165/hr. for labor.

It was a couple of years ago now, but I remember just seeing a holiday sale on the BMW USA site, looked for the LSD, it was ~1500 and I bought it.
