TPM

Anyone know why the TPM's don't work when the car is not being driven? I can power up the display, select the TPM menu and nothing. It would be so handy to have the TPM work when I'm simply checking the tire pressures. Instead, I have to fire up the car, go drive it, then check the TPM menu.
