M235i tuning recommendation
Hello Folks, I recently purchased a 2014 M235i. The car is completely stock and I was looking to get a little more power out of it. I am only thinking of installing a charge pipe for the purpose of getting it tuned. I contacted a few shops locally for an estimate on a custom flash dynotune and it is about twice the cost of BMS Stage 1 tuner.
Is it worth spending the extra money to get it dynotuned for basically a stock car? I am not sure if there would be much difference in gains, I was wondering if anyone has custom tuned their cars without any bolt ons. |

Get MHD or Bootmod3 and flash a stage 1 OTS map, or even the M2 (stage 0+) map. It will give you a good bump in power and sweet midrange torque.
Then you can easily flash back to stock when or if needed. |

BM3 OTS maps are a thing of beauty. Save your $$$ on custom tune until you reach FBO and or Stage 2+(HPFP upgrade) territory. You're headed in the right direction with charge pipe upgrade, but would strongly advise upgrading that sad stock intercooler. Looks like its still relatively cool where you're at now, but when you get to 80F(27C), IATs will be no lower than 100F(38C) and hit 140F(60C) on pulls with just Stage 1 OTS map.
Honest to god, heat soak didn't feel like much stock, but once you have actual power to lose, you notice when it's gone. And 40C-60C = no fun zone. |

I love my BM3 stage 1 93 tune, only other mods are charge pipe and upgraded IC (because of the FL heat).

Thanks for the input guys. I have been reading a lot of great reviews about bm3. It costs almost as much as I would pay for a custom dynotune in my area, so I am getting a little confused on which way to proceed.
