Advice on HPFP
So I finally went all in on the Pure Stage 2 and purchased it a bit ago from those lovely people down at X-PH, although I did have a question for y'all forum dwellers. I am shooting for around 500 whp but would like to have some headroom for 600 whp. Now I am trying to make a decision on the LPFP and HPFP. Anyone have any suggestions?

Also interested in what people advise, I'm considering the Pure Stage 2 and was thinking the Dorch Stage 2 HPFP would be all I need; is the LPFP needed?

I'm pretty sure that the LPFP is needed as well for that extra fueling, but I'm also going to run E85 so a LPFP and new lines are absolutely necessary in my case.

You don't need a LPFP at all, and I wouldn't recommend upgrading it. Dorch fuel pump is obvious the go to for most, but detroitm2 tested the Nordstrum pump with great results. He may be even able to provide a discount as well.

Problem is, I need headroom for 600 whp because I'm trying to run about 500-550 and don't want the risk of fuel starvation. Is that possible with the Dorsey HPFP, or do you think I'll need a supplemental fuel source such as the methanol?

Edit - more conversation about this exact subject here: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1829630 Cliffs - skip the LPFP and go with a Stage 2 pump and run E85.

If you're trying to push over 500WHP on the PS2 with E85, You're likely going to run into injector limitations at some point as well. Most of the HPFPs out there are pretty close as far as flow goes. Though I've heard from some reliable sources that the measurements used vary quite a bit and the quoted numbers cannot be trusted. That being said, I've been pretty happy with my Nostrum pump. I'm not pushing that much horsepower, but I will likely be in the same boat as you over the winter when I go with a stage 2/3 turbo setup. There's a few others on this forum who are going down the same path of direct injection 600WHP with no suplimental fueling, and have a lot of knowledge in the area. I don't want to call them out, but I'm sure they'll chime in here if they're interested. |
