Advice on HPFP

So I finally went all in on the Pure Stage 2 and purchased it a bit ago from those lovely people down at X-PH, although I did have a question for y'all forum dwellers. I am shooting for around 500 whp but would like to have some headroom for 600 whp. Now I am trying to make a decision on the LPFP and HPFP. Anyone have any suggestions?

Also interested in what people advise, I'm considering the Pure Stage 2 and was thinking the Dorch Stage 2 HPFP would be all I need; is the LPFP needed?

I'm pretty sure that the LPFP is needed as well for that extra fueling, but I'm also going to run E85 so a LPFP and new lines are absolutely necessary in my case.

You don't need a LPFP at all, and I wouldn't recommend upgrading it. Dorch fuel pump is obvious the go to for most, but detroitm2 tested the Nordstrum pump with great results. He may be even able to provide a discount as well.

Problem is, I need headroom for 600 whp because I'm trying to run about 500-550 and don't want the risk of fuel starvation. Is that possible with the Dorsey HPFP, or do you think I'll need a supplemental fuel source such as the methanol?

You'll need to go with the Stage 2 if that's the case. What fuel are you running?
Edit - more conversation about this exact subject here:

Cliffs - skip the LPFP and go with a Stage 2 pump and run E85.

I read through the thread and it seems that the majority are running 91 + meth. I have an E85 station nearby so I was hoping to run that instead. I mean, I do have a methanol kit which I can run but I'm not entirely sure if E85 and methanol injection are fully compatible…

Who is your tuner? You'll want to talk to them about it, but you don't need meth plus E85. And I think about 500-550whp is the limit on the PS2 anyhow.

Okay so I spoke to Dorsch and they told me that the max on their pump with E85 is 500 whp, but they are working on a new lift pump for the N55, which should lift that up by 49%, giving me more than enough headroom. They said around August it should be done.

So the LPFP is certainly optional. Depending on how much fuel you're flowing it may be worth replacing. Additionally, the OEM LPFP isn't designed for high quantities of ethanol and may degrade over time.

If you're trying to push over 500WHP on the PS2 with E85, You're likely going to run into injector limitations at some point as well.

Most of the HPFPs out there are pretty close as far as flow goes. Though I've heard from some reliable sources that the measurements used vary quite a bit and the quoted numbers cannot be trusted.

That being said, I've been pretty happy with my Nostrum pump. I'm not pushing that much horsepower, but I will likely be in the same boat as you over the winter when I go with a stage 2/3 turbo setup.

There's a few others on this forum who are going down the same path of direct injection 600WHP with no suplimental fueling, and have a lot of knowledge in the area. I don't want to call them out, but I'm sure they'll chime in here if they're interested.
