Anybody running the BILSTEIN B16 DampTronic coilovers? Opinions?
I think I'd like to keep the EDC control over my dampeners so I saw the BILSTEIN B16 DampTronic coilover kit and thought that might be the way to go for my M240i. Anybody have this installed?
Would camber plates be recommended for all coilovers or would this be fine without plates? |

Heya,
Check out this thread, https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1766252 The OP wisely posted in the B58 forum as it gets more traffic it appears. I am pretty sold on these but the cost is somewhat prohibative at the moment. I really do not need new shocks at this point as the stock ones seem to be holding up just fine. I have Eibach lowering spring I may install for now until I can justify new shocks. Less than ideal, but will get the look I am after until I can afford the CO's. They also make an uprated shock replacement I have been eyeballing. They are about $1k less than the CO's. I figure if I like the lowering springs I could at least get an uprated shock from Bilstein and retain the adjustable suspention. As far as plates, there are a billion threads about the handful that are available for the M240i. The general consesus is that most make noise, but they can really help transform the cars performance and eliminate the redic outside tire wear we get in the front. Are they required? No. But they are sure nice to have. I have been mulling over if I want to take that step as my M240i is not my DD so the extra noise would not be as big a factor. The roads in the Bay Area suck and makes me question if its worth it. Anyway, check out the above thread. I think it will help you out immensely. josh |

This probably doesn't help... but I am running B4 Damptronic shocks with M Performance Springs (Red) on my 2015 M235i. They have been on for a year and the ride is just too unforgiving and crashy below 30MPH even in Comfort mode. The rebound/high gas pressure is too much for broken roads here in the UK in my humble opinion. The car handles like a dream on fast back roads and controls the car superbly though.
At this stage I'm thinking of going back to OEM adaptive shocks, either with standard M Sport springs or M Performance springs. I do wonder if it'd be worth trying Eibach springs with the B4 as they are a lower spring rate, but my mind is saying the a car rides on it's shocks not it's springs. The MP Springs on OEM shocks were fine. Have wondered about the B16 kit as you have a matched set of shocks and springs. I stayed away from the B6 damptronics because of the many reviews stating they were overly harsh and that comfort mode was as firm as OEM sport mode. |

Thanks for the link, perhaps you're right.. all i know is with the same springs the ride was fine with OEM but with b4 damptronic not so. Perhaps the combination of high spring rate and b4 DT shocks isn't a good combination and the valving of the b4 isn't suited.

Ordered some 2 weeks ago, hoping to get them at some point late this month or early May, installing them in May.
I have track days on May 13th and June 3rd, the plan is to install them in between if possible so I can compare (same track too). |

I ordered some for my m240i xdrive and they came delivered extremely damaged. It was clear someone had repackaged them. There was a gaping hole in the box when it arrived. Extremely disappointing. In the middle of return and replacement process now.

I saw one review in the E90 forums and I wasn't impressed. The damping range was limited for one thing, and the cost was extremely high.
I would consider what you want to do with the car and then get a proper coilover kit. Here are a few reviews I found: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=26569059 F30 https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=270940 E92 M3 Couldn't find the old E91 review I saw, but it should give you some reading material
