I gotta say I like more BMWs produced on this side of the Atlantic pond as ordering wait times are less.

Anyway bring on the USA guide.

Interesting option list. But $300 add-on for a garage door opener - really BMW?

Give Porsche a try. $3k for red painted brake calipers and other crazy things that are standard on Kia. You can't get anything from Porsche with less than $25k in options.

yea that item used to be in essential packages on most models and moving into 2022 cars it is now a one off item. not as many people actually use it tbh. prob 1% of customers use the feature.

I was looking forward to the 2022 240i/xi to replace my E92 but looking at the price on the build page online was a bit of a sticker shock to me. Is it just me but all new BMW models 4 series, etc seem to have jumped quite a bit compared to previous generations? Adding packages to the 2022 240i its getting very close to prev gen M2.

I get prices go up from generation to generation but this one seems steeper than I expected. Having seconds thoughts now about it. Maybe will look at other options unfortunately.

We only specified CAD$8,010 / USD$6,400 of options on our Macan S (upgraded wheels, seats, stereo, mirrors, steering wheel and added a tow hitch), it is perfectly usable without all the unnecessary vanity options and meets our needs completely.

Is this a vehicle you ordered with USD $6,400 in options over the base price? If so, I'd guess that price-wise yours is one of the more lightly-spec'd. Macan S' in North America.

Yes, CAD$80,000 exactly (USD$64,000) on the road including GST (sales tax), fees and discounts. One of the last vehicles they made in Sapphire Blue before they retired the colour, too.

Only needed the slightly upgraded 19" summer wheels due to wanting to tow on gravel roads. We generally don't like moon roofs so skipped that, but added Bose upgrade, 14 way power memory seats, 911 steering wheel, dimming mirrors, black trim, tow hitch and lane change warning. Other than that the 2019 onwards 10.5" ICE and nav is all we need, don't want any of the driving assist items overall. In Canada heated leather seats, power tailgate and a few items that are options in other countries are also standard.

The spring as opposed to air suspension was a good compromise with the 19" wheels to make it a very useful vehicle that will fit in our garage (4.75m length limit due to the workshop tools, bench, trailer, Caterham, M240i and various other stuff in a 22x24' garage).

The SUV's aren't too bad. I considered a Macan S, but it just didn't drive like I was expecting.

I just built a Cayman S the way I would spec one out, and I'm pretty lite on options.

Base - $72,500

Total - $95,570

Price for equipment - $21,720

A Cayman S with only 350 hp that is.

It's a huge step up in terms of what you get vs both F22 and F87. When M340i came out it was a big price increase as well. These cars are closer to M cars than ever before.

Also, let’s wait to see the US ordering guide. Canadian spec’ed cars sometimes lack features/packages to get them below a certain price point and in general have less standard options than the US due to differences in currency value.

It’s not always the case, as the Canadian Golf R is priced VERY competitively vs the US model, but in some instances base cars in Canada may have fewer features

In the case of the F22 M240i, it was just different features, the Canadian cars came standard with leather, heated seats and heated steering wheel, but not a sunroof that the US cars had. Generally after currency conversion and making the options equivalent, most German cars have been about 15% cheaper in Canada compared with the US for quite a while now, although selling prices have been closer due to Canadian dealers being at about half the margin at MSRP compared with US dealers.

Red calipers is actually a $14K option (in Canada). You can't get them unless you upgrade from base model to "S".

That being said - the base model in a Boxster/Cayman is very "base", that's true.
