What can I easily DIY???

I have a 2017 F23 M240i and am planning on doing my first oil and filter change this weekend. I live in a small town with no BMW dealership (closest one is 2 hours away) and no real BMW/foreign car “mechanic.” For my other cars, I take them to a 10 minute oil change place (I don’t want them touching my M240i).

I am a total novice to all of this!

Now that I have a floor jack and jack stands and access to under the car, what other things (general routine maintenance or minor performance mods) can I do by myself that are relatively easy? Any other DIY things in general? I have already changed my engine and cabin filters and have also done some “idiot” coding (i.e. BimmerCode!).

Thanks for any suggestions!

Oil changes are extremely easy on these cars, check out YT for step by step directions.

Might I suggest some Rhino ramps instead of the jack/stand combo? I find this route much faster and do oil changes in my outdoor parking spot with ease. I use OEM oil and filters or some use FCP Euro.

Intakes are easy and downpipes can be done in an hour or two.

DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE DRAIN PLUG! That was my rookie mistake eons ago and I stripped a plug in my VW Bug, thinking "is it tight enough so that it won't leak". Get yourself a good torque wrench.

Newby question: M240i: I see many use rhino ramps to be able to access the engine oil drain plug. So now that the car is on Ramps and not level; does this mean that all of the oil will not drain?

After further research I found that a small amount of old oil remains; but should not be enough to matter....... supposedly

THIS! 18ft-lbs and no more! What, you don't have a torque wrench? Buy one!

So far I've done the following in my driveway with a floor jack and jack stands. I also bought Rhino ramps and they work great however, you need to add a small 2x4 in front of the ramp to keep the front splitter from dragging.

1. oil change
2. spark plugs
3. brakes
4. catted downpipe
5. intake
6. complete stereo install including trunk sub-box and amp
7. Not BMW-related, but I put a 3" lift on my Jeep Wrangler by myself in the driveway.

If you're comfortable working on the car or have access to youtube, I didn't see mentioned yet:

Brakes
Suspension
Pretty much all fluids (some may require pumping)
