Fuse# for active sound or radio?

Hi all,

Sorry if this as already been post but I was wondering if there is a fuse we can remove to quickly try the Active sound off before going with the coding route even if this mean disabling the radio at the same time.

Thank you

No ones know how to disable the active sound or radio by removing a fuse? I am pretty sure I saw a test drive of the M235i and they said this was the first thing they done and even listed the fuse number but I can't find it back.

Would be apreciated if anyone know.

Thank you

There's a fuse chart at your fuse panel in the trunk. Take the sheet, find the fuse number for the radio, and pull it. If the radio doesn't go off when you pull the fuse, you've pulled the wrong one.

Or, pull the left side panel in your trunk and unplug the amplifier.

I did check the fuse chart but there are 11 fuses for the radio. Didn't want to try them one by one. I thought someone would have known.

Thank you...will post it if I find the right one.

I found it. Fuse to disable radio and active sound at the same time is #122.

#121 disable the iDrive screen.

I like it better without active sound. It is a bit on the quiet side so a performance exaust is on the next to buy list but at least the sound is more pure, more real. You hear the sound coming from the outside as opposed as coming from inside the car. You also hear some other mechanical sounds coming from the turbo and the engine.

For the radio I actually don't mind running without it. This engine sound is music to my ears but my girlfriend does have a slightly different opinion on this ?

Also you can not use the bluethooth hand free functionnality without the radio so I will be ordering a cable to code the active sound off but at least I was able to try it out first.

I TOTALLY agree with your comments on wanting sound from where it was meant to be...on the OUTSIDE of the car. I love a loud exhaust but hate the Active Sound.

If I can ever find someone to code my car for me this will be the the first thing on the list.

I ordered the ASD removal harness from TechnicPNP last week. Came in Monday and it's going into my car this weekend. $65, doesn't disappear if the dealer updates your software, and doesn't throw any codes from the ASD module being offline.

I'll post the results after I do the install.

I had no idea such a thing existed. I'm thrilled! Please let me know how it goes! Thank you! Thank you!

Trunk fuse box location?

Hi:
Sorry for the dumb question - are the fuses in the trunk located in the red box vertically attached to the right of the battery? I want to pull #122 to test the silence associated with disabling ASD.
Thanks.

Nope.

Open the trunk and lift off the cover over the battery well. The fuses are in the small rectangular panel at the upper left of the well as viewed from outside the trunk.

Trunk fuse box location?

Thanks a lot. I didn't like the look of the red box or the thought of trying to open it. I'll get to drive a bit without Active Sound this weekend. Looking forward to hearing the engine and true exhaust. Also, I'm hoping to purchase the disable harness if I can get a response from the website.
Best.
-Robert.

I had the Active Sound feature coded out. Should have done this the day I drove my car home. The HK system sounds better, can converse with passenger in a normal tone, a great car is even better. If I wis to listen to the exhaust note I roll the windows down.

Curious about your experience with coding it out & the HK system.
Is there any "hiss" through the speakers after coding it out as some have reported with the HK system?
I'd rather just code it out too but some claim you get a residual "hiss" though the speakers verses installing the harness to get rid of it.

Read the Dr Strangelove thread lots of good info I'm not going to repeat but you're better off w harness than coding. It's like $50.

That looks like upper right, not left, to me. :-)
