Perhaps so, but that does not change Dinan not honoring their warranty if you are at a open track day.

You do realise that even BMW will not honor the factory warranty if your car is stock and you break something at a track - if they can verify the issue happened at or during a track event?

No, I did not. So if I am at an open track day and the engine blows up BMW won't honer the warranty?

That would seem ridiculous since they market the car to do that an you can drive on their track.

If you track your car it voids the warranty. It is like this will all BMW's. Even if you were to buy a brand new GT3, in the warranty it says you can not track the car.

BMW have covered failures in driver education track days and there are some cases of coverage in lapping events, but the warranty specifically excludes timed and competitive events, so drag strip and auto-x events would be excluded.

Good luck with that. Hope you never have to test it.

I probably won’t test it as the Caterham is far more suitable as a track car, much cheaper for consumables on it to. Those who have received coverage have generally had to fight for it, but here is one where coverage on a failed engine in an M235i was initially denied, but BMW reviewed and did cover it as the track day wasn’t a competitive event: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/...ty+claim&mid=0

I've had my dinan stage1 v1 for 12k miles and have had zero issues. Now I'm wanting a flash tune badly and waiting on dinan but thinking about bootmode in the meantime. Question i have is can i leave the v1 in bypass mode while getting flashed or do i have to remove it?

Most likely i will flash dinan stage2 whenever that gets released unless it's underwhelming.

My Stage 1 .v1 was flawless initially, but started to throw CELs. BMW checked the code and said there was no issue present in my car and the code was in the process of clearing on its own. No drop in performance or other issue. Dinan agreed to replace with the .v2, but since then, code clears after three restarts and returns again after another 3.

Just found this out recently (not wanting to jinx it), but running the car in Comfort, but having the shift lever to M/S, I have not had a CEL after a dozen or so restarts. I'll continue to run it this way and see if the CEL ever shows up again.

Car still runs great. Plan on going w/ a Stage 2 Dinan Flash (when available). If for some reason Dinan does not offer a Stage 2, I will have the Stage 1 .v2 installed if for no other reason that ability to trade a car that doesn't throw a CEL.

Update:

Well scratch that, after a few outings w/o a CEL, started the car today and my little friend is back.

Even with the intermittent CEL that clears on its own, I have to say the Dinan Stage 1 w/ the Dinan intake makes this car into a beast. Really a fast little bugger and the extra whine I get from the intake is really nice too. I still haven't done WOT, 1/2-2/3's and I'm way over the posted limit in short order.

Currently, IMO the M240i is BMW best effort to date. Adding the Dinan Stage 1 only makes it more impressive.

Update 2:

Well, it's been nearly 2 months now running the car in comfort mode w/ shift level set to M/S and no CELs. W/ engine running w/ higher RPM's and longer shift points (being set to M/S) seem to make the Stage 1 .v1 work with the Car's ECU.

Fingers crossed...............
