What's the factory staggered tires for 2016 m235i xdrive?

On automobile catalog showing standard tire size for 2016 m235i xdrive is 225 and 245. Is that true? Tirerack also shows 225/245 as OEM set up.
And I saw many experts recommending 225/255 setup, I run a calculation and 225/255 setup does have a smaller diameter difference -0.4% compared to 225/245 -1.2%, but which is better?
Is BMW xdrive with staggered tires from the factory programmed differently for the AWD car to know it's staggered? Because mine came with squared is it ok to change it to staggered?

Yes, those are the factory tire sizes for the staggered setup. It's what I had on my 2016 M235 xdrive with summer non run flats. however, I've since gone to a square 225/40/18 setup, non run flat, Michelin PS AS4 as it was just easier to manage with tire rotation and new tires etc.

Yeah, I've always been told to keep the F/R diameter difference on an xDrive car under 1%, but BMW fits these cars with a 1.2% difference from the factory so I assume it must be OK. Obviously 225/255 would be better on this account (and that is what my 335 xDrive came with from the factory), but 255 is technically too big for the factory 8" rear wheel. I know some people still do it though. YMMV.

To answer your question though, no, you don't have to code any changes for tire size. I just would not exceed 1.2% diameter difference, and I'd still try to keep it lower if practical.
