Winter tires

Hi. I have a 17 rwd m240i. Currently it has staggered summer pilot sports. I don't like the extra hassle of 2 sets of rims/tires as i probably wont drive more than 1000 miles over the winter, i walk to work and have another car for bad weather. I hate the idea of just letting the car sit for months. I live in central PA and we get below freezing temperature and everything I read says that summer tires are for summer.

I know a guy who is selling his 19 rwd m240i. He has a square winter set up that he is willing to sell. Specifically oem BMW alloy style 385 18" 7.5 rims with 225 40 18 tires. My research says the rims/tires currently on the 2019 will fit my 2017 with no issues, however before buying, wanted to reach out to forum members to see if my research is correct and if having the winter set is worth the investment ($750 for tires-wheels, both in excellent condition)?

The sku #for the rims are 36-11-6-796-212

Thanks in advance for any advice and or ideas

I live in South Jersey - I think winter wheels are very much worth the investment. I went the 17x8 route with 225/45 17's and wheels from Tirerack. They worked very well for me. I am switching to 18's this winter as I upgraded my brakes and the 17's will not fit. They have 1 season on the tires. I am going to post them up for sale.

In any event - winter tires make the car a hell of a lot more stable in the wintry weather. Tradeoff is when the road is dry, they don't handle as well as summers.
