Auto start/stop not working

My 2015 m235 M/T auto start/stop hasn’t worked for over 2 years now. BMW service department didn’t seem to have any solutions other than the car battery might be at the end of its life (but that was 2 years ago).
Anyone else have this problem or know of a solution?
