Currently at 113k so far zero issues in both the transmission and the engine.

nice. which model year?

i have an early '15 -- went into service october 2014 -- with over 95K. i'm thinking about doing the preventative timing chain kit because i want to keep the car forever.

my daughter is currently driving it and not really logging many miles. i plan to take it back when she graduates college in '24, and it will return as my daily driver to keep miles off of my M2C.

Just purchased 117k 2014 228i w/ M sport / Tech / prem.

Only records besides oil changes, cabin filters, and tires were 1 coil pack, front rotors and pads x2, rear pads, brake fluid flush, 1 02 sensor under warranty at 19k. Runs and drives beautifully.

only thing you might want to consider is the timing chain kit as a preventative fix. https://www.bimmerworld.com/Engine/C...20-XDRIVE.html

i have my guides checked once a year at this point and will probably just go ahead and get this done during next service. my daughter has taken over this car as her DD, and i dont want her getting stranded anywhere.

Yes! I am concerned about timing chain, it seems to be a hot topic online at least. I’ll check out your link. I hear some sellers have it “subsidized”.

2014 228i sport line but then retrofitted M-sport with the N20. I've also thought about doing to timing chain kit too but honestly I'll just wait till the car blows up then buy one of the built N20's that Ghassan makes. I feel like if our motors have gone past 100k without that timing chain issue then ig we're okay bc I've seen motors with half or a quarter of those miles with the timing chain issue. Perhaps mine has already been replaced but I do not know since I bought the car at 89k miles.

my f22 is a MY2015, but is an october 2014 build, so it has the N20 that was part of the lawsuit settlement -- i also just turned 98K miles on the odometer. so last week, i had the dealership inspect and run their test to determine any required maintenance. the dealership said all is good with the chain and the chain guides.

i'm still concerned about long-term issues...but i've asked 2 different indy shops about this engine and they said that havent seen a high number of failures. not sure about my next steps...

Woah! I had no idea this was a thing. FCP Euro has a kit listed for $640!

My 228i has a built date of 3/2014. I had the timing chain inspected 3k miles ago (74k), and received a clean bill of health. For those who aren't aware, BMW will perform a one-time courtesy check of all timing chain components & functions.
