Hi, I recently got a 218i (2018) and I'm absolutely loving it. Only thing is the fuel Economy seems abnormally low. Dashboard says averaging 35mpg (which I'd be happy with, as it's similar to my last car 118i, but the early 2015 1.6 4 cyl version) but with the way this is drinking fuel, it does not seem to be the 35mpg it says.. it goes down considerably, even after short trips going at consistent speeds down dual carriageways.
Anyone else got a similar experience? Or could this be a fault? Thanks I'm advance |

Short trips, especially with a cold engine are not good for fuel economy. Try a longer trip with the car up to steady operating temperature and report back.
Another way to check if the readout is false, do the manual calculation when you fill up the tank and record your mileage. |

The whole reason why I sold this car, dispite getting it at a reasonable price, was because the car had awful fuel economy and for the performance you're getting it just wasn't justified... The reason for this poor fuel economy is because the small turbo is having to work hard and since the engine is only 1.5L you feel barely any torque.
