During install, as I got to my last wheels, rain start coming down hard. Water get into the bolts and probably into the bolt hole.

Any worry about that in term of rusting? how about torgueing properly?

Wheels should have the oem TPMS. The 12 mins drive I took after was fine. This morning though, barely 3 mins into the drive, I took 1 hard corner and the TPMS malfunction error pops up. Is there an extra step or any kind of programming I need to do with a different TPMS?

The wheel hubs have through holes, so that's not an issue.

I also wouldn't worry about rust or torque being off. Drive it for a couple days and double check the specs (as you should anyways).

As for the TPMS, I don't have that crap. But it sounds like they need recalibrating to the car.

That seems to be the case. Looks like the tpms was oem to the 1 series and not the 2.. Any idea how I can go recalibrating it to the car? Any tire shop or stealership?

There is no recalibration to the car, but BMW did change the compatibility in late 2010 for the 2011 model year. Any sensor compatible with a car built before that change over won't work with a car built after it.

Good to know... someone was asking on another thread about importing from Canada and our lack of TPMS requirements. Are these cars all equipped to work with TPMS or would they be missing hardware or coding in some cases?

Canadian cars up to a couple of years ago tended to use FTMS (implied tyre pressure from ABS pulse wheels) instead of TPMS. The way to tell is if you don't have a reading of tyre pressure available, it should be the FTMS system that doesn't have any tyre pressure sensors or the associated hardware to read the sensors.

Just check with the seller and his oem tpms was for 2012 model years.. It likely might have been 10 years anyway and its probably best to replace...

Wonder if it might be cheaper to remove tpms from my old tire set and installed into the aftermarket or buy an aftermarket tpms to install.. urgh wasnt expecting this much thoughts
