Yea it can be expensive when you run a lot! Shoes are meant for about 400 miles of running and I'm doing that in about 6 weeks.

An indoor track or treadmill? You're not running that much in the winter time in Idaho outside I can only assume?

Actually yea I run outside almost every day. Bundled up for sure. It was 45 degrees yesterday for an 18 miler and heading out now for a 14 miler in about 37 degrees.

I thought I was doing pretty good with 30-40miles a week, damn lol.

Similar in nature tho, pretty much just eat whatever. Tend to stay away from sweet as they aren’t my favorite. I also shy away from overly processed items. Prefer to just cook.

I'm trying to add back a shit-tonne (pun intended) of fiber, before bed, to get/keep things moving. Fibra cania works so well, but is just so difficult to get down the hatch. I was really scared my recent colonoscopy was going to show issues, and even the cleanse they gave me barely worked until about 4 hours before my appt.

I'm going to spend some of my new-found excess funds to purchase/try some supplemental foods. Maybe they are fads, but I'll give them 90-120 days to prove their worth. Most recent: Armra colostrum, first packet today.

I always have a salad with whatever else I'm having at lunch time. Has always done the job. Pretty regular every morning. Mediterranean chopped salad kit from the market containing: escarole, endive, broccoli, cauliflower, radicchio, carrots, and red cabbage. I throw the rest of the kit away (flatbread strips, feta cheese, their dressing). Use an oil and vinegar dressing.

Speaking of colonoscopy, I have an appointment to get mine done Tuesday, Jan 31. With some recent deaths from colon cancer (Pelé, Kirstie Alley, and others) I'm glad to get it done. Have had it done before, not a big deal. The day before and hours leading up to it where you have to cleanse your colon are not fun but once you do it it's done and the rest is easy.

There’s nothing magic about intermittent fasting. You won’t lose weight if you’re consuming too many calories. You didn’t lose weight from intermittent fasting

True - you simply have to burn more, then you eat for fat loss. I only eat dinner, but really a lot. But I also work out almost every day (homegym). Thing is, I used to stand at the fridge countless times all day (Homeoffice 90%). And I always found something to eat.

Edit: and I sleep better, since my stomach doesn’t have to work hard at night.

I have a couple lettuce and spinach varieties, plus bok choi, just getting big enough to eat in my garden. Problem is, while I was away for the weekend, the snails GRUBBED.
Right now as I walk out to feed the chickens, I stoop down and pull a handful of various leaves and just eat them on the way to the coop. Just not enough. I have to say, much like the chickens, that extra bit of grit from a direct pick is nice for the gullet.

The colonoscopy isn't bad, it's definitely the prep. I just wish they would let me do the procedure with just a mild relaxer, instead of IV/fully knocked out. Years ago, that was all I needed.

honestly from someone who has been really fat and have found the key to success.

there is no diet, its a lifestyle modifcation

you simply need to eat clean most of the time and stay in your caloric goals, and lift.

aka lean meats, carbs and liftiing

edit: I constantly fall on/off the wagon. I'm a fatass at heart. At lot of us emotionally eat and thats the hardest part. Although extreme bodybuilders eat for purpose...I don't fully agree with that but sometimes you just gotta eat it. food is a very intimate part of our lives, and identifying emotions and stress eating is 75% of the battle.

The way I see it there are 3 paths.

1. Give up. Do what you want, have a natural life/health/death curve.
2. The F/U path, also known as the David Goggins path. No matter the cost, get healthy.
3. Moderation.

For the vast majority of people the moderation path is what they want, but it's lottery rare to succeed at this path because everything about the body tells you otherwise.

I do my best to walk the moderation path, but fail regularly, and will continue to revert back to the F/U path when I need to reel things in.

The one thing I can say is that I will not follow the giving up path.

So 2023 will be just like 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, and 2018 when I finally got fit after letting myself slide for 10+ years. And I'm ok with that.

Having tried to out-exercise my poor eating for 40+ years (UNsuccessfully) I teeter on the giving up path on a regular basis.

I can out-work a bad diet when I'm 130 lbs. But when I'm 160 the same workout and same diet won't outwork itself, so I have to maintain 130, which I don't want to do. It is what it is.

HS, fighting to get to 180 so I could work security at Grateful Dead. Now I'm fighting to drop down to there from ~200.

I lost 140lbs in 2008 and have kept it off ever since, so this is my kind of thread!

Breakfast is just a couple of slices of sourdough wholemeal toast with peanut butter and a glass of juice, 6 days a week. On Sundays I’ll have some bacon & eggs, or a full cooked breakfast.

No lunch Monday to Thursday.

LIGHT evening meals Monday to Thursday (800-1000 calories max).

NO snacking Monday to Thursday.

NO alcohol Monday to Thursday.

Gym & swim 2k per day 6 days a week (average burn 1800 calories).

Anything goes at the weekend, including alcohol, but no junk food
