headlight issues.

hey guys i was in a fender bender and had to replace the pass side led headlight.. i purchased a used one from a form member on here and the model is exact as mine.. when i plug it in and turn on my car it wont light up, if i unplug the molex harness and plug it back in it works perfect.. shut the car off and try again,, same thing. when i plug my busted headlight in that issue is not present.. Any one got any ideas about this.. also when i power up the car i get the headlight malfunction indicator on in the dash until i unplug the harness at the headlight and replug it in... then the headlight works perfect and the warning goes out... With my old damaged headlight i got a headlight malfunction indicator thus the reason i bought the new headlight.. iam wondering if this needs some coding to erase this issue.

Checking the ISTA, it says after headlight replacement:

"Under Service Functions / Body / Lights - Initialise the headlight module and teach-in LEDs in headlight; Code the FEM"

can i just flip the modules from my busted light to the new light?

If all electrical items are transferred, just using the mechanical components from the new light, that should work. One thing to be careful with is not to touch any part of the internal reflective surface when swapping the components.

i changed out the two electronic modules and now its perfect.. it was an issue with the main large electronic module was specific to my car, when i put the other one in it needed coding.. not a biggie but why spend 120 bucks to code that out when i spend 10 mini and swap a module.. Thanks guys

I had a headlight changed and the control module as well. My Angel Eyes aren't working, and my door keeps "opening" (the window rolls down as if I was opening the door, the Door Open light comes on in the dash - all while driving). Someone said this could be linked to new lights. I see nothing on Bimmercode for new lights, I'm thinking this is a programming thing? Anyone know???
