Brake Pad Recommendations
Hi all,
I will be replacing front and rear pads on my 2016 M235i X. I’m looking for recommendations for pads that have excellent stopping power combined with the lowest amount of dust and no noise. Thank you! Last edited by Gregoryb01; 01-24-2023 at 09:32 PM.. |

Your feet on the pedals adjust pretty quick to new things like differences in braking force. The Akebonos don't bite as hard as stock pads but the lack of brake dust is a nice trade off. More than fine for street use. I put them on my car as well, and don't regret it. Zero issues in winter temps.

You can't have excellent performing pads without a lot of dust. Same goes for tires; high grip = high wear.

But, don't you think we must add some context to "excellent"? Excellent on the track is what you describe. Excellent for normal street driving is another. My experience across many applications is excellent street capability with no dust nor noise from Akebono.

I personally like Euro pads and I don’t care about brake dust. I’ve used Pagid and Textar, both were good and affordable.
What do you guys use for dedicated track pads? What do ppl think of EBC? |

I’ve had good results with
Carbotech 1521 and G-LOC GS-1 pads on my MINIs. Good bite, even when cold, and great grip even when hot, low dust, and rotor friendly. I think G-LOC has disappeared from the market, but Carbotech is still around. |

Ask ten track rats, get ten different answers.
Mine: Hawk DTC-70.
