F22 and F23 gone from BMW line up?

As of today the m240 and 230 is no longer available for ordering on the Build Your Own BMW site. Supposedly, a new G series 2 will become available mid year. From what I read there will no longer be a 2 series convertible, only a coupe. You can still order the M2.

The 2 Series Gran Coupe is a 2 Series in name only. The OP is referring to F22 and F23. While sad, this was expected as several folks have discussed problems with attempting to order a new F22 or F23 on various threads. This is all disappointing to folks like me who have found the F23 convertible to be their perfect car.

Yeah it is very sad, nothing about the Gran Coupe seems related to the 2 at all but yeah guess this was bound to happen it is very sad I have been in love with my F22 since the moment I did the test drive so it's sad to see the option to buy a new one gone.

I will have a '20 230i XDrive 'vert (7500 mi) for sale in June as my new M240i MT6 is being built 1st week of April and will arrive early June. The 230 is mineral gray/oyster Sensatec with all options except HK audio. PM me if interested.

I placed an order mid February with a local dealer for a 230 x convertible. What are the odds that BMW is going to build that car or should I just buy one that is on the lots around the country and not wait for my custom build? Is there a way to find out when the line is completely done?

They just removed their link from their website to build one. I would imagine the will build those they already took orders for. Your BMW dealer should be able to answer that question.

The F22/F23 has long been slated for June 2021 EOP (end of production). Let's face it. We're like 14 weeks away from the end. If build slots are more or less spoken for at this point, there's little point in encouraging website visitors to keep spec-ing out configurations for new orders.

On the flip side, we're probably looking at full reveal/specs of the G42 at some time within the next couple months.

So Lucky

Feeling very fortunate to have stumbled on my 240 vert. Was at the dealer yesterday for service, and one of the guys at the dealer called the GC a BMW Corolla. There are a ton of them for sale at dealers in the Boston area. Because they are popular or not?

Long live the F22/23!

Likely as they are popular. The Q4 2020 BMW US sales for cars were down 25% compared with Q4 2019, the sale of 2-series as a whole was up 75%, the only major change being the GC, I'm sure the F22/23 sales are most likely to have decreased in the total for the 2-series as a whole, with it being a run-out model.

It's the least expensive non-SUV BMW; with four doors, I'd imagine that's enough to make it popular. Buyers don't care about the underlying architecture – the Roundel is what matters. My 2¢, of course.

A keeper

I guess with this news my 240 vert will stay with me at end of lease.
Don’t see anything out there to replace it anyway. Sorry to those who haven’t got one !

I noticed this on the website the other day too. You can do a Google search for the M240i and it will still take you to build one on the BMW site, but they are not officially listed under the 2 series.

Here's a direct link:https://www.bmwusa.com/vehicles/2-se...rformance.html

I just did a search on Cars.com and within 500 miles of Columbia, SC there were 121 M235/240 and only 2 were manual transmission. If you have a manual hold onto it.

Consumer Reports pans the GC. They emphasize that it bears no relation to the F2x, which has always been one of their most highly rated vehicles and remains so. It may have the highest overall score of anything in their annual car issue, out just recently.

I had a 2020 GC as a loaner for a day and it drove like crap, well compared to my brand new M240. It was also a pain to get in and out of it as the B pillar was ahead of my shoulder while in the seat.

Note that CR gave the 2 Series an 'Average" for reliability in its recent issue.

Given the way CR arrives at an overall assessment like that (i.e., it's a summary of the 2 Series from 2014 through 2019 or 2020 (as opposed to the much more detailed year-by-year assessment in their annual book that breaks out the specifics for each model year), 'Average' isn't necessarily a negative result. It's worth remembering that CR acquires the reliability data for its judgements from its readers' responses to periodic surveys. IOW, real owners sharing their personal ownership experiences inform CR as to the quality of their vehicles.

CR also offers a 'Road-Test Score', which they arrive at after driving the car on its testing grounds and elsewhere. There the 2 Series scores a '98', which as we owners know, is only to be expected.

Seriously, that road test score is stupidly high and a reminder that we chose very well indeed. When I think of all the things in my life that I didn't choose so well...

If I recall correctly, the only vehicle that ever got a higher road-test score was a Tesla, but that vehicle was later banned for reliability and quality issues.
I do feel bad for anyone who bought Tesla stock in the last few months.

As I've noted on here before, in contrast to some of you guys who say that you never see another 2-series coupe/'vert on the road, I see them all over, all the time in San Francisco. I'm guessing it must be at or near the top markets for this car in the U.S. if not the world. OTOH, I *never* see the GC in the wild here. Outside the dealer lot at BMW of SF, I've see a total of one (1) in the wild in the last year. If the GC is popular, that popularity must be in some other area.
