I have a 2016 BMW M235i XDrive 80k Miles and recently been getting some maintenance done. I’m getting ready to change the oil for the Differentials and the transfer case. For anyone who’s thinking of doing this as well, FCP Euro sells the OEM oils which is what I went with to avoid mixing. Also, the front and rear diffy use different oils just a heads up and are a bit pricy.

As for actually performing the service, has anyone done it for their m235i? I know some BMW’s don’t have a Drain & fill plug for the diffys does this specific model only have a fill plug? Whats is your experience and do you have any tips?

As for the transfer case as well, any tips are appreciated. I believe to get to this one things will need to come off (bracing etc.)

Thanks in advance to everyone 🙂

Stick with factory lubes. They are more expensive, but you'll sleep better at night. The diffs have only a fill plug. Use a vacuum pump to get most of the old lube out.
