Got my F23 at 2 am last night. I had such lofty goals, to retrofit a full NTB touch screen, but alas, those devil's in Bavaria did not grace my 2017 M240 with an ATM.
So for the time being I'm just going to go for the larger screen. I believe there are different models that are 8.8 inch screens for the two series. Are any of them reasonably priced or is everyone just getting a 3 series screen and living with a gap?.
I also want to change my iDrive controller does anybody know what the guidelines are for that. are there different models for different configurations or can any modern NTB controller fit?
Lastly am open to compelling arguments over Android screens or wireless Android Auto/siri I interfaces

if you don't mind 'knowing' you have a gap (since you can't actually see it unless you are outside the car in just the right spot) you go with the 3 series screen since it almost half the price. Otherwise get a 2 series screen.

Can you suggest a model number for either? I am concerned the cable will be different given my configuration

i upgraded my screen as well to the 8.8'.. went with one out of a 16 m235i same as mine and am super content i spend the bit of extra money for it even though f30 f32 screens will work to and are cheaper. when you get it let me know if you need help coding the car

I personally just installed an Android 8.8inch screen. Works great, touch screen,adds navigation with google maps, youtube or any apps you want from google store , no gaps behind the screen and for 250CAD on aliexpress,it is hard to beat !

any screen that is 8.8" from the year your car was made will work. doesn't matter 3 series or 2 series they all have the same mounts and cables.

you didn't mention what kind of idrive your car has, that will let us know if you can be more flexible in years.

I picked up an 8.8 inch display from a 12-15 320i through EBAY from an auto salvage yard and only paid $95 it was a grade A and works and looks great. At a 1/8 of the cost of the 235 display it was worth every penny

Hi, store name on aliexpress is Yokotron. He has some screens availble for f22, specify exact car model so you can get the right cover molding , without space behind the screen. He announces for 4.4 android but I asked and got much never release
