235 grey mirror color
I will this week end be trading in my 2011 135 is for a 2015 235 and my condition to the dealership is was for them to 'paint' those 'grey' side mirrors. They tried to tell me that this was an option? I told them I wanted the mirrors to be painted body color. My opinion was they looked out of place....like i 'clipped' them and they were primer colored. I hated the look. The obliged me, and sent them out to be painted.....I think they looked out of place, not a nice grey, didn't match the color of the rims (OEM bmw rims of that year) Hard to believe peeps would pay for that option... to look like an Audi? Maybe carbon fiber, with carbon fiber diffuser to match, and some carbon fiber ground effects.....but that's it.

Personally, I really don't like the grey mirrors. Replacing them with black ones was one of the first things I did to the car!

Yes, that grey-that-looks-like-primer on my M235i replaces wings that are body colour on other variants. Who at BMW thought that looked good? I replaced my with carbon fibre, but gloss black or body colour would have worked as well, I think.

The mirrors and calipers started out black and MSport blue, respectively. The dealer did the body color match before delivery. I find the grey/silver mirrors awful to my eyes, other than on a matching silver car.

The silver mirrors are a direct lift from Audi and I can't for the life of me think why BMW would do that. I also think they look odd, although the last couple of M240 that I saw had body colour painted mirrors (Mineral Grey, and it was definitely a 240).
I'll have to keep an eye out, although like the US 99.9% of owners here just lease the car for 3 years then throw the keys back. The number of enthusiast owners who notice things like this is pretty small. |

I wish the silver mirror covers WERE a direct lift from Audi. Frankly, Audi does this WAY better. The Audi 'S' mirrors are a much richer metallic silver with a dark polished glow. Sort of a dark grey chrome in their shininess. It is a true design element that complements any color. A friend has an S3, and they look really good on that car.
The BMW mirrors on the other hand are a simple flat silver that doesn't match anything. They are a poor imitation of the Audi design. I would prefer body color, or black. But it doesn't bother me enough to spend $200+ to replace them. Yet.... |

I'm a bit afraid to take them off, as it seems you have to pop the mirror out to do it. I can see that going badly.
