Xpel - Front Repair

Hi,

I am wanting to do the full front xpel. Before I have this applied, I am looking to have the front bumper completely repaired of all rock chips and scratches.

I was told that it will take about 2-3 weeks to fully cure before I can apply the xpel film.

Does any one have any suggestions on what I can do to help protect my front in between the repair and the xpel being applied? This is my daily. Obviously I will try and drive less as possible.

thanks in advance.

I understand your dilemma. The last time I was in your situation I rented a car. For me, it was worth the price of the rental to achieve peace of mind.

Take a 2-3 week vacation!

Okay, probably not helpful, but the only time I don't drive my car is when I'm >500 miles away from it!

I just did this, actually get the car back tomorrow from PPF wrap and ceramic coating. While the paint cured I rented a car for two weeks.

Renting a car was the first thing that came to mind. But damn, it is going to not be cheap.

Where did you rent from and how much did you pay for two weeks?

I've had Expel applied on 2 different cars after body work. Depending on the installer, I've been told to wait anywhere between a few days to 6 weeks. I think one consideration is whether the body shop bakes the paint or lets it air dry. I've seen no ill effects after applying it after a dew days.

Have you compared the price of current bumper cover surface repair labor before painting + rental car versus new ready to paint bumper cover + cost of painting while you still drive your car and they install two weeks later already covered with Xpel? Would take some logistical coordination and probably leaving a piece cut out of current bumper cover to verify match but you'd have a new protected bumper cover installed!

You shouldn't have any problems applying PPF film on the freshly painted bumper if it was prepped and painted the right way.
