M240i traction w stage one

As of right now I have a stage 1 BM3 and cattless downpipe. I'm having trouble keeping traction on 40 rolls. What do you think is my best option?

I'm not trying to spend money on a LSD so is my best option bigger tires or possibly lowering the boost by gear? I'm trying to eventually move to stage 2 but I can't do that until I can get my power down with my current set up.

Get rid your run flats.

I have MPSS in the car, I'm pretty sure they're not run flats

Is it cold out? It's surprising you're losing traction at 40mph with MPSS tires. Or maybe I'm just underestimating a stage 1 tune

MPSS does come in run flat btw. It would have a "ZP" logo next to the word Sport.

No it wasn't very cold out it was probably 65. I was very surprised too that I'm losing traction from only stage 1. The tune did make a noticeable increase though.

My tires are fairly new as well.

i have 265 wide rear sections with Michelin 4S, it makes a huge difference . the car literally sucked on the stock 18 and 245 mpss . this is my 3rd 2 series and imo this is the best setup . BBS CIR 19'' , the front is on 235 wide

What gear are you starting at? Maybe start at one gear up?

I had MPSS and they where apparently run flats. They where squirmy. Moved to continental ECS and noticed big improvement.

That's prob the best advice. I'm on stage 2 E30 and can only get traction easing into 3rd gear. Plan on using this setup in the spring.

This.

I'm making 470-480 WHP and 500+ torque and I'm amazed at the difference the 265 PS4S made. I had 255 PSS before and even one size wider made a noticeable difference. I can hook pretty well in first/second as long as it's above 60 degrees. Granted, I do have the LSD and Paul seems to have made the boost come on more more gradually on my tune, but I've been able to get a best of 3.7 0-60 (3.5 with rollout).

Hello!

Just curious have you figured out a solution that'll work for you? I"m having the same problem at the moment with Stage 1 JB4 (had it without the JB4 lol) ... I know the LSD would be the way to go... but someone mentioned 265 MPSS on the rear... although I didn't know you could go that wide on an m240i without any issues on the rear...?

I'm running 265's no problem. 18x9.5" ET58 rim with 5mm spacers (so 53mm offset equivalent). MP4S tires. Stock suspension (not lowered).

The inner tire is very close to the the shock dust boot, but it never rubs even on the track.

I've came to the conclusion that the only options are to get bigger tires which requires you to buy new wheels. Or getting LSD. I have not done either yet but im planning on getting new wheels in the spring time and upgrading to stage 2.

I've been messing around with lowering the boost by gear with bm3 and it's has helped a little. However theres no point to upgrade to stage 2 with out bigger tires or LSD

BM3 Stage 1 vs Stage 0+

For winter I am switching to Stage 0+ -- for less torque but higher HP top end.
.
Stage 1 with cold winter tires just does not work for me -- even in Alabama.

With Stage 2 - I drive in ECO mode if it snows and boost reduction on 1,2 and 3.

In my opinion I would ditch the super sports and get a set of Michelin pilot sport 4’s or 4s’s
I’ve just changed all 4 from SS too PS4’s and it’s made a world of difference.
