Looks like the new M240i will have a LSD stock. Has anyone been able to compare the aftermarket LSDs available for this generation M240i to the new car? Possibly just the same M-performance LSD that we would install?

Item Description: Wavetrac LSD w/Magnetic Drain Plug Parts: 2,235 Labor: 100 Shipping: 81.91 Tax: 7.50 Total: $2,424.41 The diff cost reflects a returning customer discount. The magnetic drain plug was $35. The one hour of labor charge shown was how I chose to break out a joint six-hour/$600 labor charge shown on the invoice for the installation of both the diff and a set of aluminum subframe bushings. A higher cost for the diff and three hours of labor would probably result in a more typical installed cost. The shipping cost is for sending the OEM diff back to the seller to recover my core charge.

On another note, are the polishing options worth the money? |

Don't forget to apportion my joint installation labor ($600 for both diff -and- subframe bushings) however you choose. I didn't ask what discount I was getting as a returning customer, but if I had to guess I'd go with ~$100. I think polishing generally makes a difference only if you're going racing. The benefit is a reduction in driveline losses and internal diff temperatures. Reducing the latter can keep a car from having to run with a diff cooler. I've had diff parts polished for a race car but didn't see the point for an M240i street/track car.
