Low Coolant and Jammed Expansion Tank Cap
Hi
New to the 2 series here and having some issues with the coolant. I have been getting alerts on starting of low coolant levels. Not every day every couple of days. Now I have popped the hood and managed to open the small expansion tank cap which i now understand to be the turbo cooler circuit. I was under the impression that this was the only radiator expansion tank. half the reason for that is my inexplicable inability to open the main radiator expansion tank cap. The bigger one. I can unscrew it aybe 1 or 2 revs and then it becomes so tight its impossible to remove. Ive tried it first thing in the morning when cold. Is there some trick to opening this cap? Should it just screw off like the other one? EDIT: I got it open. Is there meant to be a floating dip stick. Hoping not otherwise it must be VERY low! There is a min-max plastic fixed dipstick in there. If you are getting warnings you are probably below minimum. These engines loose coolant inexplicably and it is considered normal. No one that I am aware of has yet to figure out where it goes.
