Man, that is one ugly looking rear end. 1-series tail lights look much better. Had really high hopes for this , but it doesn't look like she's looking too good.

Except it always breaks. I'm on my third one

However they want to name doesnt matter. It just HAS to happen.
If you look at M car development , especially the forthcoming M3 you have around a two year delay from the standard car arriving on the market to the yet to be launched M3. Which given its on sale date is later than sooner.
Expect such a timeframe for the BMW M2.

It's not going to be tomorrow. But the M235i is going to be the perfect current solution ahead of a long wait.

The Autobild car is a European specification 220d which for many will be the de facto choice for European customers. Europe will also receive the 218d so there is an entry for everyone.

Fantastic news, the M2 is going to to a true driver's car.The car will be just a tad smaller than the E46 M3 which makes it the perfect car for me.I like the 1M but it is just to small, this car is going to be amazing.

After looking at the M235i pics, the car has a very sporty stance and I love the roofline.People should just ignore these champagne pics until all the great pics get released on the 25th.

The rear taillight unit is the worst part of the car and reminds me of the Honda Civic tails (said this in the first uncovered spy shot thread). But it's going to look amazing at night illuminated like all L-shaped tails on BMW's.

Why am I the only one who likes the paint? It fits nicely to its simple and elegant design.
Definitely going to be an enthusiasts' car in the future.

Beautiful car & beautiful front end.

Let's get the guy that did the front end on this to replace/re-do the front end on the current 3 Series (Either on the LCI or the next re-design)

I also like the paint, at least it highlights the elegance of the shape. The red M235i will pull out the sharpness.

I am officially convinced that BMW makes their basic cars ugly on purpose so you fork out and extra $3k for M-Sport.

With that said, I'm super excited about the new 2 Series. We currently have an m235i on order here at work with a December production.

the tail lights are not my favorite part of the car, but at least they got rid of the "stubby" design of the 1 series.

I love my 1 series, but when this comes out; I'm on board.

I'll lease a M235i, mod it out, and then when the M2 comes out I'll put all the parts from the older car on to the newer car. I missed the 1 series M coupe, I'm NOT missing the M2!

Same plan over here without the crazy modding !!
Question is lease for 2 or 3 years in anticipation of jumping into an M2?

Man I'm trying so hard to like the 228i and I'm having such a hard time now with those cheap bloated taillights and the weird trunk lid cutout.

I kind of wish I could still order a 128i with M sport and xenons, all the leftovers are halogen equipped non M cars with crappy options.

Really want to see a 228i in Mineral White Metallic, M sport, and a red gut if it's available on the 228i with better wheels. Enough of this champagne puke.
