Revealing Pics of M235i vs Standard Bumper, Undercarriage (no LSD), and Next to 435i
BIMMERPOST NEWS Revealing Pics of M235i vs Standard Bumper, Undercarriage (no LSD), and Next to 435i Months ago we uncovered much of the M235i by way of a set of very revealing photos (reposted below), but we now show you some more unique looks. The first image shows the M235i bumper (on the left) compared to the standard 2 Series bumper (on the right). The 2 Series bumper is the same as the one spotted on the standard 2 Series prototype we showed you last week. Both designs look very sporty to us. The image also gives a great top-down look at the M235i and highlights how short its overhangs and tail end are. Next up is the first look at the M235i's undercarriage and shows us that like the M135i, it is not equipped with a limited slip differential (LSD) as standard. According to BMW, LSD will be offered one way or another for the M235i. It will likely be available as part of the M Performance Parts catalog, like for the 4 Series. The tire photos show us both front and rear tire sizes for the M235i's 18" wheels - 225/40/18 for the front and 245/35/18 rear. And lastly, have a look at how the M235i compares to the 435i visually. Compared to the 435i, the M235i is 7.3 inches shorter, 2.1 inches narrower and 1.8 inches taller. Also see our recent comparison of how the M235i stacks up against other recent BMW models. The M235i has already been revealed to feature 322 hp and 332 lb-ft tq, covering 0-62 in 4.8 sec (auto) / 5.0 sec (manual). BMW officials have teased that it will be faster around the Nurburgring than the 1M Coupe. See the M235i and 2 Series' fully revealed specs HERE. M235i Track Test Video: |

Can't wait to get mine!
I knew it wouldn't have the LSD, just like the M135i, basically the same car with different body,... BMW is reserving LSD's for pure M cars, not "M Performance" versions of "regular" BMW's

The M235 keeps looking better with every little crumb of info! I have a feeling it's going to be a very worthy successor to the 135. A couple of quick observations:
- Based on the pics of the front and rear bumpers the M235 will look a lot more aggressive compared to the 228. - I like the way the rear spoiler is looking. It looks like its more than an afterthought with just a little bit of overhang. It looks kind of like a color matched version of the BMW performance spoiler for the 135. - In the garage pic you can see an orange reflector on the side of the front bumper Lets hope this ugly reflector doesn't make it to production. On second thought, I guess this would be better than having the reflector in the headlights because somebody will probably make a color matched cover for it.

I think somewhere in 'Merica. Just look at the huge rubbermaid trash can(in the garage photo) and the huge SUV's and Corporate type building in the background. That ain't euro-land. The new 2er is shaping up to THE bmw a lot of us are waiting for.

Looks like someone was taking some pics inside Woodcliff Lake. Was there a couple weeks ago and saw the uncamouflaged M235i and it looked spectacular.

I am sure lsd will be offered as a BMW performance part, either installed at the port or dealer.
That M235i front bumper is looking real aggressive, it looks nothing like the M135i front bumper. |

I don't see much of an upgrade over the current 1 series... few horsepower and a bit bigger (not ideal for me.) The front looks better-ish but the back and sides look much too business class compared to the 1.

What are you talking about? The M235i will have an LSD option, whether from the factory, or as an M performance part. So... LSDs won't be 'reserved' for pure M cars. Frankly, if you think the M235i is a 'regular' BMW, you haven't been keeping up with its' development.

I don't understand why stock M235i comes with more power than a stock 435i.
Makes no sense and would make me pissed to pay that much more $$$ for a 4er and have less power. |
