the body still looks a little too much like a 1 series

but I think it will look amazing.

Looks like my 2000 323Ci did, but full of electronic nannies, run-flat tires, no dip stick, no spare, no jack and a lot more money. I'll keep my 135i until it is out of warranty and starts having problems. Then I will look for a used 2012 or older Cayman.

I guess it's that roundess that has been described which I find bland. Whether or not I have a 1 series meand nothing to my like or dislike with the 2.

I lean toward more edgy designs in general. Same reason I like bodies on Lambos more the Ferraris.

I don't know why BMW insists on making the E82 and now the F22 seem so bubbly and plump. I don't see any of the sleekness indicated in the headline -- all I see is a top-heavy car that looks awkward at the best of angles.

I really hope we get the bumper on the left side. Looks more aggressive like the 435i m-sport

EDIT: Looks like the left bumper is for the M235i and the one on the right is the standard model bumper. Hope I'm right...

It may still be somewhat rounded, but I see a sleeker car overall.

i think both cars need to be in the same/similar colours to compare accurately----as often colours create different appearances on proportion!

here's my best effort from a quick google search. Still not a colour match by any means...but closer i think.

2 series definitely sleeker while the 1 series coupe is a boxier look.

It will most likely be a M performance part, either installed at port or dealership. Either way it will be available, just like it will on the 435i soon.

You should find a 128i to compare, since this is a 228i.

the pictures from a while back (red car) looks so much better - these latest photos just look like the current 1 series...not saying that's a bad thing but with the name change could have come a new design or new theme.

this car might have the best looking front end in the f series. or at least it's on par with the 6er. seems like some z4/5er hybrid.

These new pics seem to show the lines better--or maybe I can just see them better. It looks good--I am getting less anxious...

that side view looks very similar to the E82, but with a better face--good thing in my opinion.

I have always liked the "squatty" nature of the E82's rear end--hopefully it translates into the M235 as well...that's one of the key elements of the E46 M3, at least in my mind.

I'll fly the flag for the minority opinion from the E82 camp.

I think the 2-er, especially, the M235 looks fantastic. It addresses and fixes a lot of the design issues I see with the current 1-series. Yes, even my 1M.

I love how my little bruiser looks from every angle but the front three quarters where the car just looks stunted and bloated. It's somewhat lessened with very aggressive fender flares and the aero kit on the 1M, but it's not sleek and low like the E9x M3 to me.

The new 2 looks to be a lovely mix of the butch-badassery of the E82-1 and the sleek, sharkiness of the E9x 3.

Can't wait for the M2.

I'm not doing the 2 or 4 series... A 2 grand coupe would be killer though. The e46 never get a sedan but a m235i sedan would be a lot more accessible.
