Sorry I forgot that it could and may be offered as an option. I've been looking forward to this car since I sold my E46 due to it's size and performance so I'm aware of all the development shown here and a few other places,... what I mean is that I can understand BMW keeping some things for "pure M cars", I'm not saying the M235i is a "regular BMW", it's somewhere in between.

BMW is keeping the newer active m-differential for the M cars which does torque vectoring. For the regular non-M cars, you'll have the option of the M-Performance lsd.

I'm seriously hoping the release is going to come out early, can't wait to see this car.

I'd love to pick up a 2er Valencia Orange/Black, 6MT, heated seats and upgraded sound. Hoping that xenons will be standard like the current 135i. I'd say that's a decently low spec 2er that will have great performance and good fuel economy. Perfect stable mate to the M3.

While I'd love to wait to see what the M2 does, I'm afraid of what the premium will be over the M235i, which as Chris Harris puts it, is the bargain of the century.

yup! I feel the same way. I just want estroill blue 2 with 6MT. Don't need other options really. I'd rather get things like carbon fiber spoiler, and rims, Jb4, etc

Agree....the 4 has now become so big and bloated it's hardly a 'performance' car, it's more of a soft cruiser coupe....

The 2 is the new 3.

It is odd I always hear that Europeans embrace smaller cars, hot hatches, etc. But the cars coming out of Germany keep getting bigger and bigger.
Not just Germany, all European cars are, largely due to ever more strict EU regulations.

It's getting absurd frankly, especially given a lot of European countries (UK is probably in worst situation regarding this) simply don't have the road space for ever increasing vehicle size.

Here in UK most home garages now can't be used to keep a car in as they were built when cars were so much smaller.

I don't get it. BMW has been offering the same/similar power output since 2007 and similar weights & 0-60 times. Only differences is they upped the model number (1 to 2, 3 to 4) and increased the price. Even the $25k Scion FRS has a limited slip. Get with the times BMW and stop producing boring cars with boring understeer. I guess the only excitement offered, since it still has the N55 platform, is the random engine stalling. I guess that can keep you on your toes.

Agreed.

A common problem that seems to be plaguing these smaller sporty cars is the awkward proportions. Like the MB CLA and the current 2 series.

I'm assuming their market research shows people in this demographic want more headroom, but wasn't that the point of separating the 1 series and the 2 series.

It's obvious when you see the 2 and the 4 next to each other, the 2 should've been the same height as the 4.
