Okay, so I just took delivery of my 2er on Thursday and immediately I can name off a few thing that I disliked-but will learn to love it anyways cause the rest of the car makes up for it.

1. The centre armrest lid slides and I have rested my elbow on it while entering the car to have the entire thing slide up. Kind of annoying....
2. no spare-change pocket, I have the lane departure/driver assist thing so the buttons are in where the secondary storage would be.
3. The centre armrest storage is very shallow and can only hold so much... my sunglasses case already consumes a big chunk, now I just need to find a solution for where my sunglasses should go and try to free up some space.

Did you order the storage compartment package? If so, that is disappointing. I ordered that, too, and was looking forward specifically to having that little cubby hole there.

Thankfully I didn't order the storage compartment, otherwise I'd be pretty mad to know that I'll be paying full price but getting partial of the option! Should get a rebate back cause you weren't able to gain an extra compartment.

Don't forget that space in front of the cup holders.

LOL. I put a ball point pen in there. Don't have to dig around in the glove box if a need one.

That small space above the cup holders are okay to put my keys or wallet and phone while driving... But even taking some of those out is a nuisance.

Do you have power seats? I've got the M-sport manual seats and they drop down very low - the way I like them. I've never been in a GT4 so maybe I don't know what I'm missing.

My only minor complaint with the manual seats is that their side bolsters stick forward about an inch more than I like or need. I have very wide lats that just fit in the seat when it is fully widened (by motor!), and a narrow waist. The bolsters seem to be optimized for pear-shaped bodies.

It only matters to me because I keep cars that I like for many years. I owned my E36 for 12 years and my E46 for 15 years. Touching the left bolster when getting in and out will wear through the Sensatec sooner on this car than on my E46. Of course, upholstery can be repaired.

It's easy to not brush the seat on entry/exit if the door is wide open, but given the long doors it can be almost impossible in many cases (some parking lot situations or when my wife's car is in the garage next to mine).

AFAIK, you're the first to mention the sliding armrest issue. That annoyed me for the first few months but now I'm used to not putting any weight on it during entry. It just slides forward way too easily. I guess I was used to entering my old E46 a certain way.

I've also had a minor bizarre issue with the cup holders. I often put my keys there. (I don't have keyless entry.) Sometimes they get stuck in the cup holder! I'll pull several times and they won't come out. I need to jiggle them about to free them. I noticed that inside the cup holder, about an inch from the top, the two pieces of plastic do not align smoothly. The lower part is slightly wider in diameter. So there is a small hidden edge that happens to catch on my keys. Strange.

All cars have quirks. This is a great car. Congratulations on choosing it.

I removed the ash tray and replaced it with a rubber mat from the link below. I do have to give credit to another poster for the idea but it is bad of me to forget whom it was. The ash tray just pulls out but it leaves three small holes in the bottom of the console where the tray was connected. The rubber mat fits perfectly, looks like it should of been there to begin with. My picture below has sunglasses in it for scale, might not be wise for storage.

Came in to say this. The tray pops out with a light tug and can be put right back in (spring loaded roller clips, if I recall correctly), and it's not even that bad looking for short term without the rubber mat insert.

I never have noticed the armrest issue while driving, but twice or three times I slid back and forth on it as passenger when I let my uncle hoon around a little.

For good measure, the butt bolsters don't hug me. I'm not sure if it's their positioning or width alone. The seats in my friends' M4 and E36 M3 are snug on me in a great way.

Power seats, yes. Changing seats won't be an option for me for a few years but I do wonder if the M3/4 seats will fit...

In Canada, we don't have an ash-tray & cigarette lighter unless we ordered the "Smokers Package" (I didn't order that cause I don't smoke) and I have that exact same tray! I can't put too much there and leave it there, kind of like having some of my stuff stowed away as opposed to being right there in the open. Just a personal thing, so I guess I place my keys & phone there sometimes...

How much stuff do some of you carry in your 2 series. Sounds like you need a truck not a sports car. Don't many of you test drive as well check out what you're about to purchase.
