Here's a pic of the darker rear lights.

Btw, this is a config pic from the German BMW build site. The US site does not yet have the new configuration build specs for 2020 models. That being said, I went to the de site to spec out the 2020 m240i that I am planning to order. Yes, in Long Beach Blue, and with the new trim option in CF.

I wonder when those darker tail lights will be available to but separate. Was going to buy the LCI ones, but now I guess I'll wait for these darker ones to release.

Wouldn't it be cheaper just to apply tint film to the tail lights rather than swapping them out?

Perhaps in the short run, but not on a proverbial “dark and stormy night” when the guy behind you that you’re now exchanging licenses with didn’t notice in time that you were braking. When BMW darkens the OE lens, they still must compensate to have the entire tail lamp assembly meet FMVSS illumination regulatory requirements. When you darken your own current tail lamp, you are just giving up conspicuity.

As stated above, I haven't got the LCI ones yet though...

If I am going to buy the LCI ones, I could just wait for the new ones is what I meant, if it wasn't clear.

Has anyone been able to locate the part # for the lci backline tail lights? When does production for the 2020 models start?

They must have done some recent maintenance on the US configurator. Now you can directly select the Track Handling Package for the 230i, rather than using the back door wheel/tire selection to get that.

Are these darkened tail lights for sale, if not when will they be? Where can we buy them or part number?
