Suggested to get oil analysis
Someone suggested I get an oil sample on my very first m 235i BMW to see where it’s at since I bought this car used and have no idea about its past. Well I sent for the kit from black stone and since I only have 3000 miles on this oil I wondered how to get a sample without changing oil. I have no dip stick hole ? Can I take cover off oil filter and get some amount for the sample ? Or just bite the bullet and do an complete oil change since I don’t even know what oil is in this car. The no dip stick is a first for me and I really don’t like it.
This could be a mute point to most but just thinking someone has had experience with the oil sample. Hap |

Just drive up some ramps and take the
drain plug off for a fraction of a second and put it back on. You can catch a couple ounces for analysis this way. Don’t forget to check the oil level and top off if needed after. |

I would just do a full oil change.

Never thought of that
Seems what ever metals etc is in the oil would be in there which ever kind of oil. I am assuming it is bmw oil since it was done at a dealer but agin I don’t really know.
More research or help from those who know. Hap |

Conceivably, it could end up making sense to change the oil now to a known product, putting on 3-5K miles (or whatever), and then sending it in.
