That may or may not be true, but many folks like me aren't interested to buying anything else made in China. Bad enough that so much of today's commodities are made there. I'm really not inclined to buy a BMW (or any other vehicle) manufactured in China. Period. And the grille is still ugly. BMW can do better - the iX3 is likely aimed at China's market more so than ours.

Volvos are made in china and are doing fine. You got to remember, us enthusiasts don't represent the market. Most buyers don't even know where their cars are made or where the company originates from, and they likely don't care.

Who engineers a car is much more important than where it is built. Every car has parts from all over the globe and assembly robots don’t differ from country to country, in fact China ships almost 50% of industrial robots worldwide, so it is highly likely any car is built with high input from a Chinese robot: https://www.statista.com/statistics/...ns-by-country/. If a manufacturer applies a worldwide QA standard, it is generally impossible to tell which factory the car comes out of without interpreting the VIN.

Complete with the fake vents on the rear corners ala the Toyota Camry.

I like the looks overall, but not a car for me who likes the RWD/6cylinder/manual package.

I do like the smaller car nature, maybe it could be a good second car for my family.

I hope they keep the 6 cylinder RWD manual 2 series. I really do.

No need to worry, RWD and 6-cylinder 2-series are here to stay as confirmed by BMW, and the manual, well, its been confirmed for M cars, but likely won't be in the non-M 2-series.
