You just pop the grille off, unscrew the torx screws, remove speaker, unplug connector, reinstall speaker with connector secured under it. It eliminates the center LR channel and prevents it from muddying up the proper left-right stereo imaging

I made my offering to the Rain Gods today: I washed my car before the storm hits tomorrow to ensure that we'll get as much rain as possible.

I unplugged the center channel speaker and I unplugged the exhaust flap. I used the Exhaust Flap actuator plug cover. Part#: 18302411427. FYI, the center speaker cover has hooks in the front of the grill and clips around the sides and back. Removal is from the windshield back.

Replaced my Xenon D1S bulbs with Led D1S conversion bulbs. So much brighter and whiter!

Why would you disable the exhaust flap actuator?

Short answer, because I read it on the internet in some automotive enthusiast forum.

I have dual exhaust and I want dual exhaust all the time. Most of the aftermarket exhausts including BMW's M Performance exhaust is unvalved. Honestly I don't know what that valve is doing; is it economy, efficiency or civility?

I also live in the land of muscle cars and monster trucks, right next to a busy interstate. My car will never reach the level of volume I hear on a regular basis.

I will get a better idea of how it sounds when I cut the resonators out of my midpipe.

The M Lites already come with a sport muffler according to BMW. I don't see any reason to spend thousands of dollars on an aftermarket muffler. Unplug your flap and gut your midpipe for a $100 custom exhaust. Add a downpipe when you want more.

In my experience, the valve quiets down the cold start and will reduce drone in very specific use cases, such as gradual acceleration in high gear at low RPM (<1500).

The MPE for the M235i has the valve and I unplugged mine because the flap would rattle constantly when closed. Tried changing the fixing bow, still rattled. Unplugging it while in the flap is open makes for zero rattling.

I had to tack weld both ends of the valve after removing the connecting clip, the valve would freely spin open to close. Rattled alot and would get blown closed under exhaust pressure.
I tried JB welding both ends but it wouldn't stick after a day or two. The welds held after much testing, and I can grind them off easily if I want to put it back to stock

BMW put the silly valve there for a reason: the greater pressure under cold start makes for a shorter warm-up time. It must work, since it costs them to design and install it.
Individuals can do what they want, but they should not pretend that their 'fixes' have any real value, except perhaps to them.

But BMW removed the valve from MPE for B58 for some reason...doesn't seem important enough for them to keep manufacturing it.

Took it in for some service - left tail light replaced under warranty for a turn indicator malfunction and swapped back to the SuperSports from the X-ice3's.

I should take delivery of my track wheels today or tomorrow if UPS's tracking app is accurate. 17x9et42 ARC8-R's, 255/40/17 RE71Rs, a 75mm stud conversion, and a 5mm spacer for the front. I'm a headed to the local motorsport shop for a fender roll, install, and alignment.

Then off to the SCCA Starting Line School event at Crow's Landing, CA on the 7th.

Update: They're here! I'm more excited than a kid in a candy store.

Somewhat for the car, some for us....installed something I had never heard of before....a "minisplit" AC unit in the garage for our first summer in the southwest. I was told it can get to be 110-115F or more IN THE GARAGE during the summer (yes, a "dry heat") and I don't think I want all the gaskets/rubber parts continuously baking on my "keeper" car. Apparently, this is not uncommon to do out here.

Are you going to install a humidifier, too?

Oh, gosh...had not thought about that yet...sort of at cross purposes with an AC unit, though. Your or other's thoughts?

Wouldn't want your neighbors to turn you in for car abuse, keeping her locked up in a hot stuffy garage. Now that you've got the climate controlled, you'll need to install a big screen so she isn't bored all that time just sitting in the garage. Do they have a car version of that Pet-TV station?
